He was also great in two episodes of The Fugitive (Escape Into Black and Dossier On A Diplomat) as well as the 1964 film, Nothing But A Man. (I have more about all of this in The Fugitive S1, V2 thread).
Without a doubt, Mr. Dixon will be missed.

Funny, I just received my season 6 DVD's yesterday, the only season Dixon was not in Hogan's Heroes (he was replaced by Sgt. Baker played by Kenneth Washington). I never knew why he departed the show, but his character was missed. His was a very positive role for an African-American in the 60's; playing the intelligent, calm voice of reason to Dawson's huckster Newkirk, Clary's emotional LeBeau, and Hovis's bumbling Carter.RIP "Kinch"

And the show wasn't quite as good as Dixon's Kinchloe was missed. I have always been bothered by the fact that they didn't even attempt to explain his absence.
