Crimson Tide (and other Disney) BR Rebate - Anyone have problems? - Page 2

Re: Crimson Tide (and other Disney) BR Rebate - Anyone have problems?

I did not receive my rebate, instead I got a letter that says thank you for participating in the live action $10 upgrade. Your request did not include the correct proof of puchases required for this promotion. I would love to know what other frakkin proof of purchase there is on each movie? I am kinda pissed that I cut up the artwork to get the proof of purchase tag.

Anyone know what the heck they are talking about? I was under the impression that all I needed was the proof of purchase located on the back side of the case for the DVD and Blu-ray. I can see why alot of people do not even bother with rebates anymore.

Although I admit it can feel good to do so, Dave, rather than kvetch here I think your better bet is to call Customer Relations and offer to fax to a supervisor a copy of what you mailed in.

Dave,

Did you include a copy of your receipt (and what kind of receipt did you use)?

Others,

Good to hear that the rebate is good for separately for each individual BD title.

BTW, if Disney (and other studios) go this route regularly, then it'd be almost like offering the DVD for dual-format option (like separate discs combos) for just an extra $5 (more or less) -- and maybe even less if you're picking up the DVD for the first time at some bargain bin price.

Hey Paul & Man-Fai Wong,

I sent in the rebate form with the proof of purchase from the DVD and the Blu-ray. I also sent in a zerox of the store reciept along with the rebate form. They sent it all back with red x's across both proofs of purchase and a note saying that I did not provide the correct proofs of purchase for this promotion. I sent it to the El Paso address and it is the same one they included in the letter.

Damn I hate rebates sometimes.

Re: Crimson Tide (and other Disney) BR Rebate - Anyone have problems?

I've now received what is probably the same letter. Called Customer Relations and spoke with a supervisor. They're aware they have, to say the least, issues.

The address you're advised to re-submit to in that letter is not the same as the original p.o. box. It is another box in El Paso for the same company, Archway Marketing Services (any HTFers who attended last summer's Home Media Expo and thereby received quite a bit of swag might recognize that Archway is the same company that was very tardy in shipping out HD DVD hardware and software following that convention).

Archway has supposedly been terminated and fulfillment is now being handled by Budco. That's the company whose address is in Royal Oak, MI and to which you should re-submit your paperwork with an explanatory note. The supervisor I spoke with did not have an explanation as to why Archway is still sending out letters if they're no longer handling this rebate fulfillment.

I received my rebate check last week for the Crimson Tide Blu-ray upgrade. Didn't have any problems even though I sent it to the El Paso, Texas address.

Thx for posting word, Brian. When did you mail in your rebate form, etc.?

Sent it in mid March.

Re: Crimson Tide (and other Disney) BR Rebate - Anyone have problems?

Thx again, Brian. Sorry for 'doubling down' with another question, but I forgot to ask: did you submit a POP for the original (non-anamorphic, theatrical cut) DVD or the more recent Unrated Extended disc? Just wondering (read: grasping at straws to understand the disorganization) whether part of random fulfilment company employees' confusion is due to there being more than one DVD of Crimson Tide (and The Rock).

Re: Crimson Tide (and other Disney) BR Rebate - Anyone have problems?

I used the proof of purchase from the unrated extended version.

So did I, and I just received my rebate after mailing a submission to the original El Paso address on March 10. There were no interim communications. Guess I got lucky.

I do not think the fact that some folks did get their rebates out of El Paso was magic or luck.

I would wager that the more likely scenario was that Disney raised hell with the Archer folks in El Paso once they became aware that they were mishandling the rebates.

Re: Crimson Tide (and other Disney) BR Rebate - Anyone have problems?

That's not my sense of it from a couple different conversations, Brian. I think there is awareness of what a cluster this is, but if any hell was indeed raised about Archway, it was ineffectual regarding "older" submissions. Individuals such as myself and Dave M. are getting letters (mine dated in April) rejecting February submissions, while others are getting their checks in less time after March submission.

In other words, if hell were raised about mishandling, the result of that would/should have been across the board improvement in fulfillments.

Re: Crimson Tide (and other Disney) BR Rebate - Anyone have problems?

I recently sent off one for "Unbreakable" and I have one going out tomorrow for "Narnia." With these titles being priced at roughly $27 and coming with a $10 mail-in rebate, I feel a lot better about the pricing when I upgrade.

Re: Crimson Tide (and other Disney) BR Rebate - Anyone have problems?

Ron, was the address to submit to for Unbreakable and Narnia that same Royal Oak, MI address?

And could anyone who bought Gangs Of New York confirm that the rebate address for that title is Royal Oak please?

Still have not received anything in connection with an April 1 submission to Royal Oak, nor my May 2 re-submission to El Paso after it was rejected. Reaching the point of it not being worth it for $10.

Re: Crimson Tide (and other Disney) BR Rebate - Anyone have problems?

Driven by at least a little obstinacy, I decided to give it another go after the passage of over three months since the re-submission by again calling the BVHE Customer Relations supervisor I spoke with in April, Kathy. She returned my call and via voicemail gleefully kissed me off to Budco, giving me their contact info but no individual name or direct dial.

After getting someone live by pressing zero at the end of the outgoing greeting on Budco's (888) number, I got reception and asked to speak with someone who handles Disney-related promotions. The person I was transferred to knew nothing about rebates.

Thankfully, that person did however get me in touch with the right person and we had a long chat about the mess that is this rebate program. Amongst other things, I learned that my May re-submission to Archway was never forwarded to Budco as it should have been, even though that change of fulfillment company started in February.

Bottom line: if you still don't have your check(s), contact Budco via either (888) 278-6011 or BVHECustomerService@Budco.com. The manager I spoke with said they are trying to respond to all e-mails and phone calls within 24 hours.

I finally have my check for the Crimson Tide 'bate, but they're shabbily disorganized to the very end: the letter accompanying the check says it's for the "101 Dalmatians / Francesco Rinaldi $10 Rebate Offer." WTF.

Here's hoping Paramount uses neither Archway nor Budco for their recently-announced rebate program.

Thanks for the update, Paul. Maybe I'll finally get around to sending in mine.

Sent mine in back in March for Crimson Tide. Never received anything. I just left a voice mail - thanks Paul for the number.

Just curious, Dave: did someone at Budco get back in touch with you? And did you get your check?
