Star Trek Trivia (Series and Films) - Page 16

Re: Star Trek Trivia (Series and Films)

Nelson,

It's your turn if you wish. I didn't want this thread to die.

In the meantime, here is a question that I think will be a lot of fun -- and maybe even a stumper.

Name an episode of TOS in which Leslie (Eddie Paskey) wears both a red shirt and a gold shirt (each in a different scene). I never caught this before, and was quite surprised to see it in one and the same episode.

(N.B.: The pics below have nothing to do with the correct answer to the question. I just wanted to post them.)

And as an added treat, check out some of these rare photos which I found today:

Hey Scott-

Thanks, I've been pondering some questions. You have a really good one! Gives me time to try to think of another one!

I'm surprised I've not noticed that Eddie Paskey wearing the Gold and Red shirt in the same episode!

Nelson,

Yeah, I've seen these episodes many, many times, and yet I too didn't pick up on it. I did watch this episode a second time to be certain that Leslie wears the two shirts, and it does occur. In the earlier scene, he's wearing a gold (Kirk-like) shirt. In the second scene, he's wearing the red shirt.

Re: Star Trek Trivia (Series and Films)

I'm not surprised anymore! In rewatching recently on the blu rays, I'm noticing Billy Blackburn a lot more in many shots! And many other little things going on in the background.

I'm going to take a wild guess on that episode where you see Eddie wearing the Gold and Red shirts. Could it have been The Squire of Gothos?

Nelson,

That's not the one I am thinking of here. Hint: It's a second-season episode.

Okay, I think enough time has elapsed regarding the most recent question. The episode was Assignment: Earth.

Here is a fun question, and it may not be that easy.

Which species seen in TOS does Worf brag about having beaten later in DS9 (they are seen in TOS, but only mentioned in DS9)?

BTW, does HTML coding (e.g., italics) work at this point?  Or has it changed somehow?

That's pretty easy:  Tribbles!

... Or perhaps not, since Tribbles are seen on DS9 at the very end of "Trials and Tribulations"  ...

whoa! what happened, I didn't even know about this software change! What happened!

Anyway, Scott, I had no idea it was Assignment Earth! I was going to guess it could have been Bread and Circuses.

Joseph,

Nope, it's not the Tribbles.  Worf didn't brag about having beaten the Tribbles.  And you're right -- they're seen at the conclusion of Trials and Tribble-ations.

Nelson,

You were close with your answer to the Eddie Paskey question. :)

 Scott-

This is a really tough question. I am not as familiar with DS9. I thought about it and thought about. Asked a buddy and we went through all the possible alien races. I was thinking at one point it could have been the Breen, but we never see them in TOS. But then it occurred to me, it's so out there.

Could it have been the Iotians? From "A Piece of the Action".

By the way, speaking of Trials and Tribble-lations, I love the way Odo teases Worf; "Do they still sing songs of the great Tribble hunt?"

Nelson,

I thought it was somewhat of a difficult question as well. Here are two hints: The episode in which Worf makes the claim is Time's Orphan, and the aliens in TOS are not what they appear to be. The second hint should narrow it down a bit, if not give it away.

Thanks for the hint Scott. I have not seen that DS9 in a loooong time!

Based on your hint, the only aliens left, and ones that I dismissed, are the Organians. But that doesn't make sense as they had the peace treaty. So I'll have to really keep working on it. Or watch that episode.

Nelson

edit: Okay, I cheated, there was no way I was going to guess this one! I watched "Time's Orphan". I am surprised as the way that TOS episode was resolved, I didn't think they would be trouble makers. I guess it's possible! I'll keep it quiet in case anyone else wants to guess. I had forgotten how fun that sequence was with Worf.

Nelson,

Well, to be honest, I didn't know the answer either without looking it up.  I had to be sure.  I think it's a good (and fun) question, though.
Wow, one that I actually know! It's the Kelvans.
 Hey Scott-

Yes, it was a fun question! Definitely a good question too.

I'm impressed Raasean!

I can imagine it would be quite a visual to see Worf fighting giant tentacled beings.
Here's a good trivia question:

Who was the first Chief medical Officer to serve under Jim Kirk?

That's right, there was someone before Bones!

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
Dr. Mark Piper.

Of course you are correct!

Interestingly enough, the"'Stuff You Care About" page reveals spoiler text.

I happened to know the answer to the Doctor Piper question (played by Paul Fix).  I actually had Where No One Has Gone Before on five minutes ago.  I'm dubbing a TOS Sampler tape to DVD.  The DVD includes at least one cut from each of the episodes (in production order) of TOS.  Some episodes have two or three cuts, but I wanted to have at least one memorable cut from every one of the episodes of TOS.

Raasean, I noticed that about the spoileriszed text too! I thought it revealed it cause it was my post.

Nelson,

I believe you're up next. :)
 Here's an easy one:

In Journey to Babel, one of the Andorian ambassadors colleague is Thelev. He is revealed to be a spy and not an Andorian. Only his plastic surgeon knows.

What species is he actually?

I believe he is an Orion, altered to look like an Andorian.
That was fast! You got it Scott.

I was thinking that is wasn't entirely clear if he was an Orion or not. But Spock says he believes he's an Orion. So that's as definitive as it gets.

Your turn.

Name at least one episode where Spock apparently says "I'm sorry."  One caveat: You may not list any episode where he is under the influence of anything like an alien's power, spraying plants, etc.  In other words, he must be in his 'normal' state of mind.

Gary,

That's not one of two I was thinking of, but I can't recall if he does come close to saying it in that one, so I will give that one to you. :)

The one I was specifically thinking of was The Corbomite Maneuver, right after Spock tells Kirk that when one is outmatched in chess, the game is over ... checkmate.

You're up next.
No... I am wrong... I knew that was the scene you were referring to but I guessed the wrong episode.

But since you gave that to me...

This is probably en easy one for you guys...

Which human is immune to the Vulcan neck pinch?
As I recall, Spock did say "I am sorry" to Christine in The Naked Time too.

That's a good question Gary, my first thought wasn't a human, so I'll ponder that one.

That's true... but at that point, wasn't he infected with the virus from Christine?

I have confidence you will know which human is immune.
