Can I get an opinion?

Thread Starter
I'm helping my neighbor choose the pieces for his basement home theater. He's a big fan of Infinity speakers, so we've stayed with those for his set-up.
Budget is a factor so we can't go crazy expensive, and the price range of what we've selected meets our requirements. Our speaker allowance is right "around" $1,800.

I know this is the speaker thread, and that's what I'm asking opinions and advice about. However, I listed all of our equipment choices below.

I also realize that room setup plays a huge part also. The area is really a side of the basement. The area is approx. 12' wide x 25' deep to the extreme back. The projector will be approx. 14' from the front and seating will be near 11' from the screen (approx.). Insulated ceiling and carpeted floor. The walls are cedar (a hard surface) and will start out without treatments.

Anyway, here's what we're thinking of getting. Fire away. Better choices, etc.

Thanks!

Chris

Re: Can I get an opinion?

Wow. If your budget is "right around" $1800, this is way overspending for this. You can find Beta50s, new in the box, a pair for $500, add in the surrounds and center, and you're still under $1400. I'd have to look up the sub as that may be occupying a big part of your budget.

I've been actually very impressed with the Beta series. I'm using Beta 50 fronts, Beta 20 rear/side. So far, so good

Re: Can I get an opinion?

Excellent choices i must agree. If you Price shop the infinity's well, you may have some bucks left over for a bigger sub from SVS. Send a PM and i'll try and help with some retailers for you.
