What's the deal with BABYLON A.D? Mega budget, yet silence from the studio

This is nuts. 100+ million from a major studio and a supposed summer 2008 release and yet nothing! No teaser. No trailer. Nothing at all.

I read there were problems on set between the director and Diesel, but is there more to this story?

Here's a behind the scenes clip thing that I saw on youtube.

YouTube - Babylon A.D. first teaser

Other than that, I don't know much else about the movie.

Fox has reported that there were "problems" during the making of the movie, but none that were catastrophic to the finished product. Rumors are circulating that the first teaser will run with "Shutter" (which opens on March 21st).

I wouldn't be surprised if Fox waits until April to start any serious promotion for the movie. The final trailer will likely debut with "The Happening" in June. "Babylon A.D." is currently set to launch on August 29th, the four-day Labor Day weekend holiday frame which will close the summer season.

Big budget, troubled production, FOX is cutting ten minutes out of it simply to make it 90 minutes. No reason for this, other than getting it to 90 minutes, which seems to be the length for films studios want to screw over. It's absurd to alter a film that is only 1 hour and 40 minutes long.

I love Vin and Michelle Yeoh is always something special to watch so I may still go, but come on already.

Director Mathieu Kassovitz speaks. No love for Fox...

"Babylon will probably have a good first weekend, but the second weekend we're going to lose 30%," says Kassovitz.
He's dreaming if he thinks it only loses 30% in its second weekend.

I like their honesty -

Quote:
"It's pure violence and stupidity", the director admits "The movie is supposed to teach us that the education of our children will mean the future of our planet. All the action scenes had a goal: They were supposed to be driven by either a metaphysical point of view or experience for the characters... instead parts of the movie are like a bad episode of 24."

What a waste. million and millions of dollars flushed down the toilet. FOX as a studio has been alienating all of the top talent to a point where few want to work with them and many publicly bash them. My God, look at how TERRIBLE the two FF movies were and what they did to X-MEN.

The script for this film is available online and it is not dumb and certainly incapable of being a 90 minute movie. This looks like ALIEN 3 REDUX.
