Which short-run (1 season or less) show would you MOST like to see on DVD? - Page 7

Re: Which short-run (1 season or less) show would you MOST like to see on DVD?

There are three series that come immediately to mind:

BRET MAVERICK

YOUNG MAVERICK

GREEN HORNET

I am sure if I thought long enough I could list some others but these are the three that I would most like to see.

Yancy Derringer with Jock Mahoney and X Brands.  One season, a reasonable hit, but the second season fell through when CBS wanted a bigger piece of the pie than the creators were willing to give.

The Pruitt's Of Southampton
Shirley
or
The Paul Lynde Show

Those are my top three 1 season shows that I would LOVE to see on DVD

DiC's 1990 The Wizard of Oz, only ran for 13 episodes and 11 of the 13 episodes are on DVD.

I'd like to see all 13 be released as a complete set.

The Long Hot Summer
The Thin Man

If I had to narrow it down to one show it would be Robbery Homicide Division/LA. It was shown on CBS so CBS/Paramount could release it, but other CBS shows have been released on DVD by other DVD distributors. I have no idea who would own the DVD distribution rights to Robbery Homicide Division/LA.

Randy,

Great list.  I know there's some here that want "...Gold Monkey" and others.  I remember most of the ones on your list.  Sure brings back memories.  I see you mentioned one of my "Holy Grail" shows....."The Bionic Woman".  Fortunately, that one's been released overseas (studio releases) but S3's still not available from the UK or Australia yet.

"The Magician"....wasn't that Bill Bixby in that one?  I'd like to see that one released as well.

Filthy Rich - Sony owns with Delta Burke and Dixie Carter.

Thanks Jeff,
I do have the UK Six Million Dollar Man sets, I wish Universal would release the rest of the seasons for both shows. It would be great to have a US release though. I'd love to hear Lee Majors do commentary!

And yep The Magician was with Bill Bixby.

There is a episode in the third season of The Incredible Hulk called "My Favorite Magician" with Ray Walston. :)

And I have to add:
Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends and The Incredible Hulk 1982 series!

Hong Kong with Rod Taylor would be one I would love to have.  I know that there's no chance this one season wonder will ever see the light of day. It was mad in 1961 which won't help its case any.

Same here about any R1 bionic series releases.  I know that Lindsay Wagner has mentioned that she'd be willing to contribute commentaries if we ever see an R1 release of her show.  Having met her, that would be a very special bonus for me as an Extra in any R1 sets.  I know that she has some neat stories from her Bionic Woman series days.

You list had a lot of gems in there for me,,,,BJ/Bear, Lobo, Tarzan ('66),  and a huge waiting list for "The Green Hornet".  That one would sell off the shelves if released.

I remember a couple more from the past...."Apple's Way", "Three For The Road", "King's Crossing" to name a few more.  And, since I'm a miniseries fan although techincally those aren't short-lived series....."How The West Was Won".  I'd pay premium prices for that miniseries.  I gave up on R1's for the 2 "books" of Rich Man Poor Man and got the R2 sets a couple of years ago.

I remember "Apple's Way" because it had Kristy McNichol in it and I was a fan of hers. :)
TVLand ran it a few years ago when they were still a great channel. I liked it better than "Family" since it wasn't as heavy.

The Green Hornet is one of my favorites shows and it would be great to add to my Bruce Lee collection. I'm also a old time radio and comic book person so I'd love to have it. Most fans know about the legal fight over Batman but what's the hold up on The Green Hornet?

If I remember right, it's a similar legal logjam as with Batman....character rights vs release/dist (DVD) rights, etc.  I wouldn't look for this one anytime soon but I guess anything's possible.

Young Maverick  and  Bret Maverick  -  I have a lot of the original series on tape but would love to have complete sets of each of these on DVD

Green Hornet  -  Loved this show as a kid and saw some episodes on cable a few years ago.  Would love to have it all collected.

One UK series which I'm dying to see on DVD is a 10-part series called Dark Towers.
I'd forgotten all about this series until I listened to a TV/film related podcast today:

Freakylinks.

It ran on FOX during the 2000-01 US TV season and lasted 13 episodes.
