Re: Which short-run (1 season or less) show would you MOST like to see on DVD?

My pick would be Deadline(2000) with Oliver Platt, Bebe Neuwirth, Lili Taylor, Hope Davis, and Tom Conti (Friends fans know him as Emily's dad).

Re: Which short-run (1 season or less) show would you MOST like to see on DVD?

No question about it, my number one choice:

Mr. Terrific

I'm a bit surprised to see so many votes for Captain Nice and, so far, only one other vote for Mr. Terrific. After all, CN has at least been in syndication; there have been prints of the episodes circulating among fans for decades. (Then again, perhaps this is why the show may be better remembered. And I surely don't blame fans who have the eps taped off of TV for wanting good, high quality DVDs.)

As to the debate that's been going on in this thread: I don't see how the two points are so mutually exclusive. Certainly shows that aired before the advent of VCRs (and never aired again) are going to be much harder to find than the shows that aired in the era of recordable TV. But all fans have the right to hope that their favorites will get a DVD release, whenever the shows originally aired.

Besides, collecting your favorite TV shows is like pretty much everything else in life. It requires perserverance and luck.

Mr. Terrific was considered to be a hopelessly lost series. I'd heard the rumors that the "power pill" plot device had doomed the show to oblivion, even after I'd taped the 4-episode compilation movie "The Pill Caper" off TV in 1984. Still, I've managed to collect more footage from this series than I imagined would be possible just six years ago, when I began my search in earnest.

So don't give up hope on finding your "lost" favorites. And don't give up hoping that, eventually, the studios will release ALL of the shows that we want to see again. (I know I'll never give up hoping that Universal releases Mr. Terrific, while I'm still around to enjoy it.)

Re: Which short-run (1 season or less) show would you MOST like to see on DVD?

How about the 1971-1972 James Garner series "Nichols," with Stuart Margolin & Margot Kidder?

It's co-owned by Warners, so there isn't much chance of ever seeing it. Too bad, it's a really funny show.

I'd buy it in a heartbeat, but considering this is the studio that hasn't yet released "Maverick," I don't think there's much chance of it happening.

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
First case I can remember of a series killing off its title charcter.... Shame that, and really pretty shocking at the time. I much preferred Nichols.v1 over Twin-Brother-Brought-In-To-Replace-Him.

Re: Which short-run (1 season or less) show would you MOST like to see on DVD?

It's Your Move- a 1985 sit-com starring Jason Bateman and Tricia Cast and David Garrison that I think only ran one season....but man, was it a great show! One of the best shows of the entire 80's- and sadly, so short-lived.

Although it was on for parts of two seasons, The George Carlin Show could be released in one set since there were only 24 episodes.

I wanna see Guns of Paradise come to DVD. It was a spinoff from Lee Horselys 3season run of his Western type series Paradise.
Where he played a guardian to 5kids that his sister left.

He was also in the lead in Matt Houston.

I am interested in that family series Second Noah. it had a huge family. James Marsden was one of the kids in it.
That series was very short run.
