I have the Yamaha RXV1200 which only got a year and halfs worth of use. We are currently planning a basement renovation and of course the first thing I am worrying about is wiring for audio & video.
Even though the Yamaha receiver is a couple years old and is not as fancy as the current ones, will it still provide decent support to the system?
I am thinking of all the connections and am probably confusing myself.
One of the first connections is to run an svideo & audio cable to the tv. I am thinking of installing wall plates w/female connectors and then run cable behind the walls.
Since this is going to be a exterior wall with insulation, what would be the best way to run the cable? Should I install some plastic conduits and run the cables through or hide the cable behind the baseboards? Will definetly have to install a conduit for the lcd tv which I plan to mount on the wall.
I am undecided about a shelving rack beside the tv or an audio video bench (but I'm sure the wife will help decide) where the components can find a home (Yamaha receiver, XpressVu box, Dvd Player, Gaming consoles).
The receiver has s-video, component and composite jacks. The Bell Xpressvu & Dvd Player will not be able to make direct use of the receiver. The tv will just be a regular 32" tube until we upgrade to lcd after all the expenses of the basement go away.
