Sorry if this question has been covered, but I searched and couldn't find any threads on it.
I have a PS3 which I am playing blu-ray discs on. I have a Sunfire Theater Grand processor II. I also have a HD-DVD player.
When I play HD-DVDs or even standard definition discs through my system both the Multi-channel digital and the Dolby Digital readout lamps light up on the Sunfire. Also, the DSP mode is locked and it will only play in Dolby Digital.
When I play Blu-Ray discs that have "lossless" or PCM 5.1 (uncompressed) audio on them, only the Multi-channel digital lamp on the Sunfire lights up. In addition I have to manually switch the DSP mode to Pro-Logic as it will play in Stereo, 3-channel, stadium, cathedral etc. etc. if I don't manually switch it.
Has anyone else encountered this? Also, if I am switching manually to Pro-Logic, am I experiencing true Dolby Digital or comparable sound?
Thanks for your help,
Jack
