I was and am hoping Warners puts out the remaining Flynn war-time films in a DVD set. DESPERATE JOURNEY is a fun rover-boys type adventure film. So a perfect set would be:
DESPERATE JOURNEY
NORTHERN PURSUIT
UNCERTAIN GLORY
EGE OF DARKNESS
I am hoping the last western Flynn set sold well enough to warrant these films being restored and released.
 

I hope Warner releases a boxset of these Flynn films, but they might end up in Warner Archives.

I certainly hope Warner doesn't release Errol Flynn films to the Archives. As I've typed in a different thread, I'm more than willing to pay/get gifted for the films mentioned above in a boxset. It highly pisses me off that an Errol Flynn film would even be considered for the Archives and not a John Wayne film. Wait, most of Waynes films are already on DVD and alot of them have actors whom have hardly any of their own filmography on DVD. I'm speaking/typing of John Garfield, Stewart Granger and especially Robert Montgomery as examples.
Oh, Four's a Crowd and Scaramouche are on Warner Archives? Shame Warner Bros. There ought to be a vote every now and then to see for which group of titles would receive a PROPER stamped DVD release. Although I am considering purchasing Doc Savage: Man of Bronze from the Archives...
This Warner Archives thing has me wary of the rest of Errol's filmography Warners has the rights to. I'd rather have boxsets, end of story. Hell, just put me in charge of Errol Flynn titles.

As said the titles above would make for a great World War II boxset. AND above all else Warners forgot to put Silver River in the Western Collection set.

Because you referred to Stewart Granger, I assume you are referring to his version of Scaramouche? Granger's version is not in the archives. It was given a respectable DVD release.

The one in the archives is a silent version. I really don't think a wide release of the silent version on DVD would have sold a lot of copies. I do agree that more Granger should be released on DVD, though.

Oh okay nevermind then David. I thought it was the Granger version which is already on DVD which I'm going to purchase eventually.
I used the guide on my DVR and set recordings onto it for several Stewart Granger films showing on TCM. Speaking of Robert Montgomery, I'm buying They Were Expendable cause of him and not the overrated John Wayne.
In Signature Collection Vol. One, The Adventures of Errol Flynn had alot of clips for his films of which I'd love to have in boxsets. As already mentioned. These four films should be released in a War themed set, some Comedies in a Comedy set and some Dramas in a Drama set. Why no Silver City in the Western Collection Warners? Or Santa Fe Trail? Could've used THINpaks for that six-film set.
Reading this Warners? Next boxset collection I'd buy in less than a second and pre-order, as long as every film in it looks great and has the usual Warner Night at the movies, vintage docs and a couple new ones, should be this War one. Maybe even call it The Errol Flynn At War Collection? Could even create an entirely new disc of Objective, Burma! and put it in there. Consider this set purchased.
Yes it does come off I'm a huge Errol Flynn fan.
I would buy Captain Blood and The Sea Hawk if either were to be released on Blu-ray. Scratch that, if Errol's entire filmography were to be released onto extremely high quality Blu-rays meaning BD-50's, dammit I'd purchase them all. And of course organise them via date of release. Even when I read The Adventures of Robin Hood was going to be released onto HDDVD, I bought it in store. But I am hesitant about purchasing the Blu-ray since it might only be a BD-25 instead of a BD-50. Yes I'm that adamant about this.

I'd go ahead and get it. I doubt the Blu is any different than the HD DVD. Considering that is is an Academy flat ratio film, and does not have large bitrate high resolution audio, it should not need more disc space. Or you could do what I did. It's on my Red2Blu trade in list with Warner.

In Barrie Maxwell's Classic Coming Attractions (link below) posted today on the bits he mentions that Desperate Journey and Edge of Darkness are being restored and remastered for a fourth Flynn set next year. We also finally get the answers as to why Silver River and Santa Fe Trail were not included in the westerns collection but very well may be in the next set. It's all part of a larger article about Flynn's career and filmography available on DVD. This should put alot of our minds at ease and I for one will be purchasing the box set in 2010!

Y'know I'd only read the Bits if it were an article centric to Flynn. Why doesn't he have a blog?
And what about the other two WWII films?
Warners should discontinue Four's a Crowd on the Archives and set up a comedy set. Maybe even some re-issues? I'd like a Warner Night at the Movies for The Prince and the Pauper and some others.
Shame about Santa Fe Trail and Silver River. Anyone know of any good "snooty" Frenchy French e-tailers? (Pity for those who aren't multi-region cabable.)
EDIT: I just saw The Western Collection for $31.?? at Warner shoppings. Do they have free shipping? It's $34.49 at Amazon. Deep Discount has been SLOW even on their 2-5 day shipping.

That's for damn sure. Four's a Crowd should be pulled from the archives and put in another set. Wonder why there isn't a set for him this year since it marks his centeniary? (sp)
I certainly hope the two other War films are thrown in there. But wait that'd be 4 films again. How about a complete overhaul for Objective, Burma! ? I'm not even sure if the current DVD has Warner Night at the Movies.

Hell, just keep releasing boxsets. I'd buy them or receive them as gifts. Soon as all of his films are on DVD, I'll be making custom THINpak covers and just have a huge box of them arranged by release date.
And of course my signature is still highly valid for all of his films. I'd even buy them on Blu-ray. I honestly don't give a fuck which ones I'd buy them anyway.

Don't forget MARU MARU and TOO MUCH, TOO SOON.  I suspect that THE PERFECT SPECIMEN may have orreperable film damage.  Has it ever been shown on TCM?

PERFECT SPECIMEN isn't shown because of rights problems. Years ago I saw a beautiful 16mm print, which was available for rental from Films, Inc. at that time.

No wonder. I've been looking for tcm to show Perfect Specimen for years. I've requested it many times. Bummer.

Certainly is a bummer. Well if it isn't going to be released anytime soon, I take it someone will make a VHS-to-DVD or even a LD-to-DVD transfer. Hell, if I owned a ton of Errol Flynn on VHS or Laserdisc, I'd make DVD-R copies of them. Of course soon as an official STAMPED/PRESSED, not burned, DVD and/or Blu-ray is released, I'd toss out the interim version.
The Perfect Specimen would either be 82 or 88 minutes, Warner would go after the longer one, if it were to ever be released onto DVD. Was it released by WB, RKO or MGM? I guess that gives away I've never seen it. Doesn't even matter to me since I'd own it anyway.
One film out of Errol's filmography I REALLY want to see Footsteps in the Dark. The premise of the movie just highly fascinates me. Maybe I'll find it on VHS?

TCM does run FOOTSTEPS now and then; I don't know whether it was ever released on VHS.

FOOTSTEPS IN THE DARK, NEVER SAY GOODBYE, NORTHERN PURSUIT, UNCERTAIN GLORY, DESPERATE JOURNEY, ESCAPE ME NEVER, THAT FORSYTE WOMAN were all released on VHS.  MARU MARU and TOO MUCH, TOO SOON (which looked fascinating in the clip on THE ADVENTURES OF ERROL FLYNN) never made it to VHS.

The BRD is a BD-50 so you can stop being adamant if it's possible.

Footsteps In The Dark was released on VHS by Warners, I sold my VHS on EBAY for $10 about 3 years ago.

Alright then! I'm gonna buy it but I can't watch anything on Blu-ray since I don't own a player yet... Is the mono track TrueHD? I'm still going to keep the HDDVD.
Does Warner still use THINpaks for their boxsets?  Signature II was great but felt uneven since it could've had one more film. Speaking of THINpaks, I've been considering hunting for covers of the individually released Flynn films, just squishing the spine from the snapcases, and printing them out. Even goes for the Amaray which are in Signature I and Western Collection. Even considering making a custom cover from one of the various PD releases with the theatrical poster art but I'd rather wait for Warner to obtain the rights back to it and Silver River. Of course both could be released individually.
You know the boxsets actually won't mean much to me once all of Errols films are released upon DVD. I'm planning to put all of them on a shelf organised via his filmography.
AND ANOTHER THING. I've noticed from Amazon a couple of his titles are OOP. Guessing these're being rereleased? They are:

So all of these have had VHS releases at one time or another?

I looked on Amazon Marketplace but alot of them are going for $12-$45. I'm just going to wait for them on proper DVD's. I'm not even sure if the majority were released on VHS but it seems quite alot were that I can tell. I could edit my list to put an asterisk for those released onto VHS though.

EDIT: I've also been downloading alot of Errol Flynn trailers via DownloadHelper from YouTube. Damn I'd love to see them all get remastered onto DVD. The films of course. I've hardly seen any of his films which aren't released onto DVD. I think out of the Westerns Collection I certainly know I've seen Virginia City, barely remember it, and possibly Montana. Other than that it makes no difference to me as I've already stated, if his entire filmography is released on outstanding DVD's, I plan on owning all of them.  The above list I made out of five of them were released via United Artists so I'm assuming MGM could release a boxset of their own.

I finally ordered The Westerns Collection off of Amazon Marketplace for only $29.89! Can't believe I've held off on buying it for so long. Still disappointed the set didn't include Silver City, Santa Fe Trail (damn 42 billion public domain releases!) and possibly The Sisters.
Still hoping the set next year (should've been for this year since it's Errol's centenary) will contain all the WWII titles fully remastered. Obviously since it's only four titles, Warner Brothers should release a companion boxset a few months later with five random titles. Here's to hoping Footsteps in the Dark is in that set.
Would anyone want me to list the full run of Flynns filmography on VHS which has been colorised?
