RF or repeating IR transmitters

My system when I install it will be behind a maple door. I need to keep the doors closed (a wife thing) so I am in need of some ideas of RF or some kind of IR repeaters. I will have my Phillips 47 inch LCD, Onkyo 705 reciever, BD-1400 Blu-Ray, and Xbox.

All my component are going to go through the 705 with a single HDMI going to the TV.

Thanks for your time,
Kevin

Re: RF or repeating IR transmitters

I'd go RF with the Harmony 890. The RF to IR receiver will be in the closet with your equipment. Not only do you get one remote for everything, you don't have to worry about aiming it when changing activities. That's the biggest annoyance with my Harmony 880 and IR repeater setup.

I am going to echo what Robert has said. I have a Harmony 1000 and use two RF extenders to get to all my equipment. If you don't have a universal remote yet the Harmony 890 or the 1000 is easy to use and setup. Harmony sells the RF extender, which switches RF to IR and sends the signal to your equipment. There are good deals out there on the internet. Whatever you do, do not go to the big box stores and pay retail, you will pay way to much.

Cheers,
JJ

Re: RF or repeating IR transmitters

well you guys have talked me into the 890. The big selling point is the wife doesn't want the doors open and she wants it all contained...So, I used that information and said here are our options. I got this look (you know it guys) and sigh, so now I have some bids on ebay for one.

I will prob. have some questions later.

thanks again!
Kevin
