hello all, just finishing off the last of our drywall for our home theatre room.... room is 17feet long x 13 feet wide. Yes I double walled and filled the centres with soundproofing insulation, put resilant channeling in the ceiling and used 5/8 drywall in the room...I am planning on a 106" screen with a paradigm studio reference v.2 package for sound. Wondering if you think seating at 9 feet is too close? I'd like to get two rows of seats in but am a little tight for space. I will more questions, just thought I would go easy to start. Thanks for your assistance.

It's too close for me. Our room is the same size, with a 106" diagonal screen. I sit about 15' back, and we use portable seats when needed in front about 10' back.

There are some seating distance guidelines at different projector sites. I can't remember the details but your field of vision is something like 30 or 35 degrees. I went with the maximum and came up with a 103" screen at a 12' seating distance.

For acoustical reasons, you want to be sitting about 11 or 12 feet back from the screen (front speakers). Video wise, far more subjective but you should be good.

9 feet places you too close to the center of the room which is an acoustical null area. Not good.

Thanks, any recommendations for seating (quality for a good price)....I'd like to fit 2 rows of seats in but I may be hard pressed.....next question...I am going to be running a set of Paradigm studio reference V.2 100's, adp surrounds, and CC center..anyone have the onkyo 805 or 875 and if so is there much difference....? I want the NAD but I also don't want to sleep on the couch.!
