Sound Splinter RL-s15 but what amp to power it with?

I wanted to get a single Sound Splinter RL-s15 and run it off of a Behringer EuroPower EP2500 in a 9cuft ported box.

I have however realized that the sound splinter rl-s15 is 3ohms!! What the heck?? can i run this sub with the behringer amp? Will the amp be stable at 3ohms bridged mono? The specs only show it bridged mono down to 4ohms. I have a feeling that this will not work.

Sooo.. now what???

Any recommendations for what i should do?

Is there is another comparable amp to the behringer that is the same price or less that will work at 3 ohms?

How about another similar sub that would work with the behringer amp?

I wanted to get 1 large 15" sub that would work with about 2000 rms and be able to take tuning the box to about 14-15hz. Any suggestions?
Where can you buy tc sound subs, I think they would work? Though they seem to be out of my price range.

Any help would be great.

Thanks

If you go ported, the voice coil resistance stays above 4 ohms from 70hz down. At 80hz, it was 3.75 ohms. I think a Behringer would drive that load. If not, a more robust amp like QSC, Crown, Carvin or Face Audio would drive that load.

If you want a similar sub, then the go with something from DIY Cable. The Tempest X is out now and the Maelstrom X will be out soon (both with XBL^2 technology). Creative Sound Solutions (Canada) has a 15 with XBL^2 as well.

You can find TC Sounds subs at the for sale sections of the different car audio forums. I know there's also a couple for sale at AVS. I see them on Ebay now and then. Audiopulse is the new name but getting one is difficult to say the least. The TC-2000 (a new one is for sale at AVS) works great in large, ported enclosures.

If you aren't comfortable going with buying from a 3rd party, then look at the Q from Fi Car Audio. Scott can tweak the parameters to fit your application. An 18" powered by an EP-2500 would be great.

I have experience with subs from both companies. I currently run a pair of TC-3000's powered by an EP-2500. I'm upgrading to custom 18's with TC-9 motors and special Fi recone kits for an IB install.

Robert, I know this is an ancient thread. But I just felt it was only fair to point the RL-S SS sub line is TC Sounds LMS drivers; the most linear/lowest distortion drivers currently known to exist. The SS units use the AXIS baskets, and have some custom T&S parameters, but they are LMS drivers all the same, simply re-badged with some slight custumizations. The price is incredibly cheap ; you pay more then twice the amount for the essentially the same drivers with the TC Sounds or Audio Pulse logos on them.

Thanks Chris but I know this.  As far as "most linear/lowest distortion drivers currently known to exist", that is debatable.  Unfortunately I don't think Soundsplinter has any SS drivers in stock and TC Sounds is still trying to recover from their bankruptcy.  As great as Thilo is at designing subs, he is as bad at running a business.

Those baskets are commonly known as LA or Lightning Audio baskets since LA was the first to use them on their TC built "Storm" subs.  I'm running TC-3000 upper assemblies on LA Storm ceramic motors.  I just received a pair of LA Storm upper assemblies to mate with my Storm neo motors.  Finally I have a pair of blown TC-2000 upper assemblies to recone and mate to another set of neo motors.  I also have TC built Soundsplinter, Elemental Designs and AE Speakers/Stryke Audio subs.  I've even had some custom built 15's from Stephen Ponte.  I'm a TC Sounds nut if you didn't notice.

The RL-S 12" and 15" is still in stock in limited quantities, although everything else is out of stock now at SS aside from Orphan 8" subs, which btw, are not comparable to the RL-i 8" drivers; at least not according to any modeling. The Orphans seem to do much worse in every possible way in simulations.

I have a pair of 15" Audio Pulse AXIS myself, that I plan to use for subass (12-60hz) in my future main system. However, I have not used the drivers yet - but I am a fan of ANY manufacturers that produces a 3rd party verified high performance driver. :)
