That's an awesome price for Glory -- I think I paid ~$15 for it myself. Almost makes me feel like ordering that (again) to go w/ BTiLC and just give it away as a present, LOL -- but I don't actually know anyone who's gone Blu yet (outside of HTF of course
). If my kids' grade school is already BD-capable, I'd just donate a copy to them since they actually even show Glory to their 5th graders as part of their Civil War studies -- my daughter saw it at school before she ever watched either of my 2 DVD copies of it last year.
Too bad we can't combine an order for free shipping and have them shipped to different locations, ie. BTiLC to me and Glory to you.
OR can we?

Yeah, I didn't realize they'd show that until my daughter mentioned it. Maybe they did just watch an edited, less bloody version of it at school. IMDB seems to mention the existence of an edited PG version.

Some prices look "okay." Others seem less-than-spectacular.
Sale ends 10-27-09.
=======================
Never mind. This is really frustrating. I don't know why my amazon links don't work anymore. I will alert the authorities.

I even tried a different link, cut directly from the Amazon sale.It appears that only Adam has the magic touch.

In our case, seems like showing Glory (to 5th graders) has become a pretty standard thing at that school now, not just some regenade teacher doing his/her own thing, so maybe they do indeed have some edited PG version for that although I really don't know for sure. I mean my own kids aren't quite that squeamish about some blood on screen anymore particularly since Glory doesn't exactly glorify the violence and such like plenty of other PG-13 flicks nowadays, but yeah, I can see some/many other kids being more squeamish about it despite the reverential treatment given to the subject matter.
Hmmm... Looks to me like the software is (selectively) trying to convert Amazon links so that they do a redirect w/ referral credit to HTF, but in the process, it's converting all the ampersands (ie. "&") in the url into "&", which effectively breaks the links at least in this case. The proper ampersand characters are needed to delimit input parameters being passed to Amazon's site server to determine all sorts of stuff like which page, etc. to show the user, who gets the referral credit, etc. etc. But the extra "amp;" added is probably causing problems for Amazon in interpreting the parameters.
I tried a kludgey way around it by (reducing the link to its simplest/shortest form and then) escaping the ampersand characters w/ a forward slash (ie. "\&"), and that seemed to work a couple times in preview mode, but it was causing the Huddler software to *not* convert/redirect the link when it actually worked. However, after a couple more tries, the software somehow seemed to wise up and convert/redirect my manually altered link anyway, resulting in the same broken link problem.
www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html/ref=amb_link_85706131_2
Oh, I also tried the url encoded version of ampersand, ie. "%26", but the software doesn't do anything w/ that (to decode it for proper redirection).
www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html/ref=amb_link_85706131_2
Oh well... Guess it's something Huddler needs to fix.

Yeah, I'm hoping for the price to drop on Hot Fuzz, too.
I ordered Cutthroat Island from Amazon back in August for $10. My wife and I watched it for the first time a few weeks ago. (So, yes, it was a blind buy). Anyway, we thought is was OK and we both gave it a 3/5 rating. However, I liked it better than she did (our ratings are very subjective). The acting is not very good (imo) and the plot is weak, but it's fun to watch the action sequences. So, is it worth $10? Yeah, I would say so, but you need to understand that you're taking a chance with this one. Now, have I totally confused you on whether to get the movie or not?

Glory is actually (and appropriately) rated 'R'. I'm no prude, but I find it highly inappropriate to show R-rated films to 5th-graders (10- and 11-year-olds) without mentioning it to parents ahead of time. In this case, it's my all-time favorite movie, but it has more than just "some blood on screen." It gets pretty gory.
Getting back on topic. . .Amazon has a new deal on 3-film BD bundles, some of which are decent. Also, a deal on music DVDs that includes some BDs. I won't bother trying to post links -- you can get to them by going to the Gold Box page and clicking on the "Movies & TV" link in the Best Deals box.

Still waiting...

Hmmm... Not exactly a ringing endorsement even for the (now again) ~$10 price. Maybe I'll pass then.
Too bad I already jumped on Silence of the Lambs BD way back when, but for anyone who held out for whatever reasons, SotL is now down to just $9.99(!) at Amazon.
Maybe I should just get 28 Days Later for the now $12.49 price (to go w/ BTiLC in today's slightly lower Gold Box price). OR maybe the Moody Blues concert BD at $11.49? Hmmm...

The following have already been noted in another new thread (about a shortlived extra 10% off at Amazon), but there seems to be enough interest in seeing this old bargains thread updated since many of us are subscribed to it. Would also be great if the mods could sticky this again (like was done before the software change), so it's easier to find (and update).
There's currently a big BB (30%-off) sale going on w/ a fair number of titles at new low prices, including some preorder ones -- not sure if the B&M stores actively promote the sale, but seems you can order online and do in-store pickup for most of them. And as many may have noticed, Amazon has also been busy pricematching most of those prices as well.
There are some nice recent releases and preorders at <=$14 like Hot Fuzz, Shaun of the Dead, Misery, Leon The Professional, Mask of Zorro, Frailty, etc. And others like Heat at ~$17.50, North By Northwest at ~$21, the new Star Trek at ~$21, etc. -- probably better as in-store pickup than going w/ Amazon for some of these, if you want the titles on release day.
Also, on top of this sale, you can get an extra $10 off the combo purchase of the new Star Trek BD plus any one of the ST catalog titles for a combined price of ~$28 + tax. So far, Amazon has not come close to trying to match this -- and I really doubt they will. I plan to go w/ this deal myself while placing an order for some of the others at Amazon.
And oh, don't forget that BF/CM is only another month away too -- and the usual DDD/DVDPlanet 20-25%-of sale should be just around the corner as well...
Happy bargain hunting!

Not exactly a great bargain, but a very good preorder price nonetheless for all those who want it during release week. And since it comes out well after the BF/CM insane bargain period (and also the usual DDD/DVDPlanet sale), there's probably not that much likelihood for a great bargain on it w/in the month or two (or maybe more) of its release.

Unless I'm missing how to get there:
Those "Gold Box" Deals must be tailored to the individual Amazon account holder.
For example, the page I went to has "Paul's Amazon.com" (I'm automatically logged in). In my "Gold Box Today's Deals", the Blu-ray selection has "Big Trouble in Little China" BD @ 53% off = $14.24, "Monsters vs. Aliens" BD @ $18.99, "The Taking of Pelham 123" BD @ $19.94, "High Crimes" BD @ $13.77 and "My Cousin Vinny" BD @ $18.99.The page states:
"Paul's Quick Picks - To take advantage of the extra discount on one of these products chosen especially for you, add one item from this section to your cart and buy within an hour. New items added every day."
Wish it had "Inglorious Basterds" BD as a choice.

Paul,
Try this link to see if it works for you:
www.amazon.com/gp/goldbox/purchase/B002T9H2L0/GbTake.B002T9H2L0/ref=xs_gb_20_left-3_7_B002T9H2L0_d
That's the link for adding the IB deal to my cart. Maybe it'll work for you.

Thanks _Man_ for the link, but that still takes me to the page I described above that was for my "today's deals" provided as a "especially for you" deal @ Amazon.. That now proves to me that "Gold Box" deals aren't available to everyone, at least not in the same 24hour time frame.
It's good to learn the in's and outs of the system.

Man:
Don't know when it was done (recently or long ago) but I just noticed that this thread IS included as a HOT TOPIC at the top of the HD/Software subforum (the Huddler version of a sticky).
I know that subject was also discussed in the aforementioned thread about the short-lived amazon deal.

Oh, well. Had to give it a try though I was under the impression that Amazon Gold Box deals worked for everyone since there have been other links posted previously, IIRC.
Mike,
Thanks for pointing out the Hot Topics area at the top. I pretty much never look up there as I'm too busy scrolling down to the meat of the thread listing. It's just not organized in such away as to draw my attention -- it's like one of the many signs that one comes across in daily life and never take notice.

Usually, I only end up checking this thread when someone else has posted to it (and thus bump it up either on the regular thread listing or on my Home page as a subscribed thread). I guess many others are like me as well since nobody else had posted here in ~10 days before I bumped it again.

...or there just weren't any deals over that time.

This is a YMMV and almost certainly a Brick and Mortar only deal. The coupon states it's for Ice Age 1 or 2, but many people on the deal sites have had this work for Ice Age 3 as well. Walmart (I feel so dirty, but not really guilty) appears to have the best price for the new release of this movie at 19.96 and with the $5 off snagged it for 14.96 (and tax of course) in the store with zero problems -- the coupon scanned easily with the handheld (i held my breath initially when the fixed item scanner didn't register) and out the door I walked.
coupons2.smartsource.com/smartsource/index.jsp
As an added bonus (not of me of course) some Walmart's ring the disc up at 14.99 (just like some stores messed the TF2 price up last week) -- Atlanta has been mentioned a couple times again -- so the OTD price can be as low as $10+tax if you are among the chosen ones.
WARNING: this coupon site like the Bricks coupon site Disney uses regularly requires you to install a Printer Software program and limits you to 2 copies per computer (not per household or IP apparently). Some people alwyas complain about this restriction, but install the software and uninstall it minutes later if you prefer.
