Re: Consolidated HD Bargain Thread!

The "Planet of the Apes 40th Anniversary Collection [Blu-ray]" is the deal of the day for $57.95 at Amazon - great price.

Here's HTF's review of this collection:

Re: Consolidated HD Bargain Thread!

Matt,

I got the same E-mail. Pretty cool, as it works on everything that they have in stock...... and pre-orders as well!

I just got the following BD's, Matrix box set, John Adams and True Blood. All 3 sets for just $115. I was waiting for a good deal on the Matrix. I guess I found one today....

Thx.

Re: Consolidated HD Bargain Thread!

Thanks for that mention POTA set, Neil. The way you wrote your post, it almost sounded like a one day deal. I hope not.

I've been waiting for the price of this set to drop before I pulled the trigger!

You're welcome, Nelson. And that deal is good for today only - it's the 'deal of the day' from Amazon.com that will end, sadly, by Midnight I believe.

Best Buy 2 For $35 Select Blu-Rays And E-Movie Cash Offer (X-Men releases included)

Two Blu-ray Discs for $35 and e-Movie Cash Offer

Quote:
Score two fan-favorite flicks in vivid high definition — plus some e-Movie Cash — with this special limited time offer.

Any pair of movies below, such as X3: The Last Stand and Fantastic Four, are yours for just $35.

Plus, you'll receive a code (along with redemption instructions) with each Blu-ray Disc good for $10 in e-Movie Cash. This movie cash can be used toward tickets for your choice of three of the summer's biggest blockbusters: Night at the Museum 2, X-Men Origins: Wolverine or Ice Age 3.

Follow these steps:
Select two Blu-ray Discs from the list.
Click the Add Items to Cart button.
Two titles per order. See offer details.

e-Movie Cash codes/certificates are valid 5/1/09 to 9/21/09. While supplies last.

cancelled my Trilogy box set preorder last night and picked up X-Men 1 & 2 with this deal when it came to my attention that the Trilogy box set contains no movie cash whatsoever (just digital copies which the stand alones do not have) .... $20 value to me over a $0 value to me. Will look to pick up X3 later (yes I actually liked this movie)

NOTE: there are 2 listings for X-Men 3 The Last Stand .... one obviously was to be the new version and one the existing ... both come up as available and not preorders so if you are looking for the new version you might need to verify when you get to the store if you do in-store pickup.

Re: Consolidated HD Bargain Thread!

Not that there's a perfect correlation between the two, but if you liked the movie you might like the supplements as well. The new special edition of X3 easily beats its predecessor in that department, with a BD50 of all-new material plus some extra goodies on the movie disc. It's not just about the digital copy.

Re: Consolidated HD Bargain Thread!

Definitely picking up X-Men and X-Men 2 at BB this week for $35. That's a pretty sweet deal IMHO.

yep, extras are nice but will likely only be watched once at most and $20 in movie cash is still more valuable to me

if everyone hates X3 as much as they claim and if many are truly going to sell off their copy from the Trilogy set I'm sure I should get a nice deal on it later down the road

Used the code to get Batman 20th Anny, JFK, True Romance, True Blood S1, John Adams and Generation Kill for $150.xx after tax.

I was surprised they gave me one of the sets for free since I had all that in 1 order (since the code is only good once per account). Glad they did, though, otherwise I would have had to decide which half of the order I wanted.

Re: Consolidated HD Bargain Thread!

Heads up. Amazon lowered the price of Star Trek TOS season one to 65.00. Don't know how long this special will last, but it is an incredible price for the set. Pushed me over the edge! Early birthday present.

It turned out to be an even better deal at my local BB. For some reason, the copies of X1 and X2 they received didn't have the movie cash. So, without my even asking, they just knocked $10 off the price of each disc. $7.50 for a new Blu-ray release from Fox! I nearly fell over.

Just checked my pre-order and it's been lowered to the new price. Rock on.

Yeah, I read about this at DVD Talk and went back to my receipt and saw the same. The theory is that the prices were lowered to 19.99 from the original 29.99 and for whatever reason that price adjustment got applied to all pre-orders, even the 2/$35 purchases.

I was kind of bummed that I didn't get copies with the movie cash (and didn't realize it until after I'd opened them) but the price (mistake?) makes up for it.

And yes, Amazon feedback doesn´t mean much to me. Sorry, nothing personal, of course.

Thanks for the heads up, Doug. I've been waiting for a good price on this title.

Re: Consolidated HD Bargain Thread!

Star Trek is also listed as $64.99 at Best Buy's website. Hopefully that's good for the store too or it's their first week release sale price. They must be matching Amazon now.

Picked up my .com order that I pre-ordered on Sunday, tonight. My receipt reflected the $7.50/each price also.

Neither movie had the e-cash coupon. So I pointed out that they were suppose to have them. Cashier went out on the floor to find ones with the coupon. She came back and said they didn't have any X1 or X2 with the coupon, just X3. Wanted to check myself before I left the store. What do you know, she had looked in the Blu-Ray section and missed the big aisle display where all the copies w/ the coupons were. Exchanged them no problem.

You guys made out. Must've been a preorder pricing mistake. I didn't preorder and did not get the pricing mistake. However, I still ended up w/ X1 w/out movie cash, and didn't realize it until today. Gonna have to go get that one swapped for a good one. Fortunately, my X2 did come w/ movie cash (or so I assume w/ the big sticker showing), and that's the one that might be harder to swap, if needed, since that seems to be much more popular than the other two (near as I can tell).

So you're saying you got both the $7.50 price and the movie cash? That would be one of the best deals since the internet giveaway days of DVD.

Re: Consolidated HD Bargain Thread!

Today I noticed that Amazon has a number of Fox BD two-packs listed for pre-order with a price of $24.49. The one I was most excited about was Passion of the Christ/The Robe since I never got around to purchasing either.
