Consolidated HD Bargain Thread! - Page 23

Re: Consolidated HD Bargain Thread!

Both discs shipped for me today so they're honoring the deal at least.

Re: Consolidated HD Bargain Thread!

Amazon's deal of the day are the two "Narnia" titles. $29.99 for both.

Damn good pricing.. shame I already have both titles!

Re: Consolidated HD Bargain Thread!

That Pinocchio/Sleeping Beauty price mistake was an unexpected surprise. Until that hit, I kept hoping Amazon would PM Toys 'R Us on Pinocchio. Major props to Amazon for honoring the orders that flooded in. I can think of at least a few online retailers that would send out cancellation notices.

Notice how those two titles rocketed to the top of Amazon's Blu-ray bestseller list? I think that had a lot to do with today's Gold Box Deal. They're probably thinking, "Look guys, here are two other Disney movies that you can almost get two-for-one! Flood us with orders like you did yesterday!"

It was funny to read comments on SD from people saying, "I don't know why I bought this, I don't even have Blu-ray yet!" Statements like that are music to a retailer's ears.

Last best price on the Narnia two-pack was $31.99 during last year's holiday season.

The real power of the true bargain!

Re: Consolidated HD Bargain Thread!

Yeah, I forwarded these deals to one of my friends who just got into Blu-ray, but I wasn't able to take advantage of either because I already have Sleeping Beauty and the first Narnia. Still want Caspian and Pinocchio.

Buy More LOST on Blu-ray, Save More

Amazon just launched a promotion with LOST on Blu-ray.

Amazon.com Movies & TV: Lost Blu-ray Sale

Quote:
For a limited time only, buy more Lost on Blu-ray and save more when you enter promotional code: LOSTBLUS. Restrictions apply; see terms and conditions. Offer ends July 16, 2009.

* Buy any two seasons of Lost on Blu-ray and save $20 off your total purchase at checkout.
* Buy any three seasons of Lost on Blu-ray and save $30 off your total purchase at checkout.
* Buy all four seasons of Lost on Blu-ray and save $40 off your total purchase at checkout.

That Season 3 price is fairly outrageous, but getting the other three (or the first two, if you've been collecting them from the start) can net you some fairly decent savings.

I have season three on Blu. I just calculated what it would cost me to get the other three seasons on Blu with this promotion. It would break down to $38.50 a season. Not bad. The good thing is this runs until July. Thanks for posting!

I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure that Buena Vista dropped the MSRP on that down to $70 (like the other three sets) so I don't know why Amazon is still using the original $97 MSRP.

It's gotta be the fancy thick cardboard box it comes in.

To me, the very real possibility of price drops on those sets (aside from Season 3) in the coming months (plus the fact that the promotion ends in mid-July, a full month after Seasons 1 & 2 are released) gives me quite a bit of incentive to hold off on taking advantage of the promotion for a while yet.

Re: Consolidated HD Bargain Thread!

I ordered the first two seasons. Thanks for the heads up, guys!

Re: Consolidated HD Bargain Thread!

I got an Amazon email today for a BR sale. Under the banner of "On Sale Under $10" are Quantum of Solace and Pirates of the Caribbean (1st one). The amount of $9.99 is directly under each movie in addition to the banner.

I click and of course, no such sale. Pirates is $10 and Quatum was still over $20. I fired off an email asking why the misrepresentation? Lost (S1) and Weeds (not sure which one) was also $10 in the email.

Re: Consolidated HD Bargain Thread!

I got the same email. While the offers as they appear on the site are not bad ($40 off if you purchase Lost S1-4 on BD), it's certainly misleading.

Re: Consolidated HD Bargain Thread!

I just received an E-mail coupon in my inbox from the "Disney DVD-club". This was a coupon for $5.00 off Bolt DVD. Or $10.00 off Bolt Blu-Ray in any participating retail store.

Looks like I will be able to pick this Blu-Ray up when it comes out. The coupon is good until 03/31.

Thx.

Re: Consolidated HD Bargain Thread!

Thanks for the heads up on the Bolt coupon, Maurice. For everyone (like me) who didn't get the e-mail with the coupon, I found the link to it (Blu-ray and DVD).

Coupon link (you'll need to install coupons.com's software if you don't already have it in order to print the coupon).

I wanted to pick this up but not have to spend $27 to get it this week. Problem solved.

Re: Consolidated HD Bargain Thread!

There is also a $4 rebate available when you buy "Bolt" and New World Pasta:

Thanks for the coupon link! A local store has the Blu-ray for only $19.79 today, so the coupon will bring it to under $10! Sweet!

My thanks also Maurice for the heads-up.

Went to Best Buy this morning to pick up Bolt (Blu-ray) and they honored the $10.00 off coupon.

Their $27.99 sale price became $17.99 before they added on the $2.17 California sales tax.

Re: Consolidated HD Bargain Thread!

Columbia House is running another B1G1, this time with just standard login. It's possible to get An American in Paris for $13 and change! I chose Groundhog Day as the Free one.

Sale ends today though.

A cautionary note: I went to Best Buy on Monday with the same coupon, and their system said that it was good only on 3/22 -- this despite the fact that it says, right at the top, that it's good through 3/31. I pointed that out, and a manager gave me the $10 off, but it required a manual override.

Re: Consolidated HD Bargain Thread!

I posted this in the Bargins thread, but I think you might find this of interest:

I was at Costco this morning and they have Quantum of Solace on Blu Ray for $25.99. They also had a new box set for all 10 films already out plus the new third wave for $159.99. This was frustrating because I hoped Costco would have the third box.

This box contains: QoS, Die Another Day, The World is Not Enough, For Your Eyes Only, Moonraker, Live and Let Die, Thunderball, Goldfinger, From Russia With Love and Dr. No.

If I had not already bought the first two box sets, this one would have been nice. As the box has each film in it's own case.

Re: Consolidated HD Bargain Thread!

I'm surprised no one has mentioned that today's Amazon Gold Box deal is the first six Bonds on BD for $64.95.

I missed this deal the first time around so I was happy to see it pop up again.

Re: Consolidated HD Bargain Thread!

All that did was remind me that a couple of weeks after I took advantage of this deal the last time, they offered an even better deal on the same discs!

Re: Consolidated HD Bargain Thread!

And speaking of the Bond titles, Target will have Goldfinger, Moonraker and The World is Not Enough for $14.99 next week. That's the magic number price point I was looking for.

Cool. I'm glad I waited.

Re: Consolidated HD Bargain Thread!

Chris- Is there a confirmed ad for those Bond titles? If this is for sure, then I'll forgo the box set and get these instead. That's $45 vs. $59 for the box. Thanks for the tip!

Re: Consolidated HD Bargain Thread!

The box is $49.99 at Amazon right now.

If you're asking if I've seen the ad personally the answer is no. But the talk around the web is that those in the know have seen it and confirmed the pricing.
