I would go for that, except I already have Identity and Supremacy.

The J&R.com Blu-Ray sale is now over.

Re: Consolidated HD Bargain Thread!

And those "Possibly/Probably Dead" deals on BDs @ amazon (there are three listed) are definitely dead.

The B&N HD-DVD deal is still alive. And the Deep Discount 50% off HD-DVD sale is also still alive. (Thru 3-27-08!).

=======

So, basically, Sam...everything under "Possibly/Probably Dead" should be scuttled...except the B&N and DD deals...which should be moved up since they are not dead.

Re: Consolidated HD Bargain Thread!

Hollywood video is selling HD DVDs for $14.95 or 2/$20. While these are all considered previously viewed, and my local store I was told that a lot of the ones I picked up had never been rented.

Re: Consolidated HD Bargain Thread!

The Hollywood Video near me closed a few months ago. I used to buy PVs there all the time. Dang!

Double dang! They appear to have closed ALL their stores in this area.

Re: Consolidated HD Bargain Thread!

Yep, HV also closed up all their stores in my city as well (or the ones still open are too far away to waste gas on for the 'savings').

Re: Consolidated HD Bargain Thread!

near me Hollywod closed without notice.

Hollywood Video Previously Viewed HD DVD - 2 for 20 bucks!!! Time to get some

Re: Consolidated HD Bargain Thread!

Someone before me picked up American Gangster and Eastern Promises at my local Hollywood Video, much to my dismay. I was able to get Elizabeth: The Golden Age and Next, which wasn't a high want; but what the hell for $10.

Re: Consolidated HD Bargain Thread!

It may be worth going back or calling every week as they also said that it looked like there were new (upcoming) releases that were still on order and they would be put on the used rack when they arrive.

Re: Consolidated HD Bargain Thread!

I was just going to report the same news about HV.

I made one of my regular stops into my local HV tonight to check things out. When I went to see what sort of BD discs were available for rental, I saw the neighboring HD-DVD rack was marked @ $14.95 apiece. I bet most of them have NEVER been viewed. They still had quite a number of titles sitting there, too.

Re: Consolidated HD Bargain Thread!

I went to the local HV and was disappointed. Few titles and all in rental boxes.

Then went to WalMart and they had 8 players (can't recall model at the moment) at a price that did nothing for me. And at both WalMart and Sam's, no mark down on discs at all.

Re: Consolidated HD Bargain Thread!

I just got back from the Hazlet NJ Costco and can confirm that the $79 deal is in full effect, they had about 15-20 left minus the two I just bought, one each for my sister and parents. Even as much as I hate Toshi's remotes (tho to be fair I havent tried this one yet!) I couldnt pass up getting them a decent upconverting DVD player, 2 free movies and maybe 5 in the mail and a free HDMI cable from each to go into my collection =) My sisters is replacing a composite (!) cable from a portable DVD player with a full component input at least getting them anamorphic and god only knows what I'll find as far as plugs on my parents, but at the price who cares.

edit: The Toshi remote is TONS better than the one from my A-1, and while its still slow to boot (slower than my X) its faste rthan the A-1 by a mile.

Be aware that many Hollywood Video stores will accept the "Buy One, Get One Free" coupons on the previously viewed HD-DVDs. So you can get two $14.99 titles for $7.50 each.

Yesterday I bought 12 movies, including the 5 disc Blade Runner set, for $7.50 each using the coupon. The purchases just needed to be rung up as multiple two-disc purchases.

The coupons can be found inside the glossy Hollywood Video ad booklets typically found near the front of the store.

The HD-DVD titles will sell quickly so stop by sooner for the best selection.
