On a related note, I thought Amazon's pre-order price guarantee was supposed to automatically drop prices for you when you pre-ordered. If so, it isn't working for me.
hasnt kicked in for either i might just call them later today.

Yesterday. C'mon, Jim, you're slacking.

In fact, the last two days have seen a lot of announcements. If the 'flood-gates' don't truly open until 2009, I can only imagine how screwed I'll be then.

I had to e-mail them this morning. They're wicked fast though, as all my prices have been updated.

Re: Consolidated HD Bargain Thread!

Thanks again Paul...i just put an order in for Dark City, How the West was Won, and Batman Begins Blu-rays. The total was $50 and change. The change got me free shipping too, as all orders over $50 get it.

When released.

I ordered 3 BDs from Warner's store in March, one of which was Twister (which, of course, is still not out yet). The other 2 shipped within a day or 2 of placing the order. And that was with the $50 free shipping.

Now I'll probably use that 25% code for some pre-orders.

I tried to go back and order more from Warner, but the code didnt work a second time. How do you guys find these things? Is it a one time deal, one time a month, or do you have to find another code?

Re: Consolidated HD Bargain Thread!

It should work again unless they pulled the code.

I haven't used the May code, I'd like to order Pale Rider but I want to wait for more announcements so I can get it up to $50 for the free shipping, otherwise with tax I'm not saving that much.

I believe the May code that I provide was a 'birthday' code, so it probably has a one-time use. Eventually, another May code should surface for the 'regular' monthly 25% off coupon.

Re: Consolidated HD Bargain Thread!

I've used that code three times without any problems.

Warner HV has been running a perpetual 25% sale at least since the beginning of 2007.

The code changes monthly, but it's not usually hard to figure out -- the 2008 codes so far have been some variation of xxBM8 where the first 2 letters are related to the month APBM8 for April, MRBM8 for March, May's code is MYBM8, and you can pretty much guess June will be JUBM8 (I think JNBM8 was January's code). Up until now those codes have always been multiple use codes.

There is also a 20% code listed at the Warner DVD shop home page -- WRNM

Re: Consolidated HD Bargain Thread!

FWIW, I'm experimenting, this week, with the addition of prices from sears.com in the Weekly RoundUp over in Bargains & Deals.

I have yet to learn if the on-line prices translate into in-store prices, but some of them are pretty darn good when compared to the "big three" of B&M retailers (Best Buy, Circuit City & Target).

Awesome! Kenmore Blu-ray Disc players rock, yo!

Re: Consolidated HD Bargain Thread!

OK...well...i got the code to work. Bad news for me, and good news for warner. I spent way to much on Blu-rays. But at $14 a pop for most how can you go wrong!

This is what i am getting for $14.95 or so...Batman Begins, Dark City, Pale Rider, Twister, Ocean's 11. For about $20 i have Dirty Harry (w book), How the West was Won (w book), and i picked up Justice League season 1 on Blu for under $36. All on Blu-ray. This is almost as good as the BOGO deals Amazon had this last fall and winter.

And to add to the list above--Mariah Carey's "The Adventures of Mimi" BD is currently $17.95 on Amazon (was $19.95 last week), for those who care.

RE: the Amazon pricing, I suspect that's just Amazon's current trend of quickly (and smartly) pricematching against various other online sites -- it might only happen for Blu-ray and/or might require someone to first request a pricematch before things kick in. The same thing happened the last couple times that J&R ran a weekend sale for Blu-rays, including 2 recent consecutive weekends when they ran sales for some of those select horror titles and a select handful of music concert titles.

FWIW, I haven't noticed the same kind of pricematching by Amazon for DVDs though.

Anyway, I agree those prices aren't really all that special -- and most are only maybe a buck or two lower than what Amazon had been charging lately (before they applied the match). Might be useful though if you also wanted to buy something else from Buy.com and could use the extra bit to get to the free shipping minimum, etc.

Re: Consolidated HD Bargain Thread!

Amazon.com has "Three Blu-ray Discs for the Price of Two"-sale for Fox/MGM-titles:

Get Three Blu-ray Discs for the Price of Two

So at least you can now save something for that magical 40$ price that many are quoting...
($25.95 + $25.95 = (around) $50 = 3 titles)

Btw. Interesting, but some HD DVD-titles are now back to around $22 in at least Deepdiscount:

DeepDiscount.com - HD DVD, Blu-ray, Guaranteed Lowest Total Prices on HD DVD and Blu-ray discs and Free Shipping

I mean I remember ordering e.g. Top Gun for $11-12 or something..? Some are still $12.30..

It´s not that I order HD DVD-titles anymore, but I just find this interesting.

Re: Consolidated HD Bargain Thread!

Some HD-DVD titles are under $10 at Deep Discount, but comparison shopping is a must. Deep Discount wants $31.92 for the HD DVD of ZODIAC, but Amazon is selling it for $18.95.

The email I got from Amazon announcing this shows most (all?) Fox titles at $27.95. A $2 price increase?

I ordered ID on Monday (there were not 2 other titles that interested me at the moment), and it was $25.95, plus I am still getting the early adopter 10% off.

I just checked my order:

-Sunshine
$25.95
-Wall Street
$25.95
-Predator
$25.95

So yes, $2 price increase since yesterday... Strange. Well, still a pretty good deal.

Re: Consolidated HD Bargain Thread!

hey sam how about adding the warner store monthly code to the first post.

this month it is, MYBM8.
this gets 25% off any order.
many blu-rays are $20 before the code.
the $27 blu's come about $20 after the code.

and reusable.

Tony i was just beside myself for how cheap i can get Blu-ray discs from that site! They are fast too! I got Twister in today, part of a bigger order. The cool part, is i got the disc before my bank has even had a chance to take the money out of my account! I called Warner CS to make sure they charged me. I didnt want them thinking i was shafting them in some way. My orders are all over $50 so i get the free shipping. They send them as they come out, and it came by UPS 2 days after shipping!

I have 11 more Warner Blu-rays on order over the summer.

Re: Consolidated HD Bargain Thread!

Great idea, Tony!

Just beware if you need to cancel something from the WHV store -- their procedure is so convoluted that things might ship several days after you call to cancel them, so you might need to send stuff back.

I also had a weird experience where I ordered The Song Remains The Same in October, it shipped months later (it was recalled as soon as it first hit distributors due to a rights issue with a minor extra feature that had to be dropped), and they finally charged me for it about two months after I received it.
