The Nines (2007)

I just saw this on DVD and thought it was really good.

It was written and directed by John August and stars Ryan Reynolds, Melissa McCarthy and Hope Davis.

I don't want to give ANYTHING away. I would compare it to Mulholland Drive in that it requires a lot of attention and you will most likely not understand everything until the end (if then).
