I make Movies...... need some help in here.....

I make home movies, but I don’t know how to find (or create) the perfect sound to capture a mood. Need sound advice!

You need to buy good sound equipment and
invest in good sound equipment, It will come in handy in the future.

I heard this guy who was heavily involved in sound direction and editing for LOTR (Lord of the Rings) was here in Cebu training the students at the International Academy of Film & Television. Don’t know if he's still there though..

I suppose that would depend strongly on what mood you're trying to capture. Advice on how to record clear dialogue would be a lot easier to give. Your question is too vague to answer. There are a lot of ways to aurally create mood, from music to sound effects, to volume to pitch of dialogue. Typically it will require a lot of experimentation and it's important to have some good audio recording and mixing equipment/software so that you can do so.
