Okay...maybe the first part of the thread title is an embellishment, but here's a guy that's trying to sue Blue Man Group for something that, in all likelihood, never took place. It's forced BMG to come forward and reveal the audio-visual sleight of hand they use to perform the trick. If a camera never goes in the mouth, the guy has no case. I'm sure they're hoping for a quick settlement from BMG to make the case go away.

I wouldn't pay him a dime. He's more than likely trying to make a quick buck and thinks he's figured out an ironclad way to do it.

I don't see where he thinks he has a case. I've seen the Boston show, and it's obvious when they cut from the actual camera to the video. The lighting changes and everything else.

What part of "audience participation" did he not understand. There is always a risk when you participate. If he was not willing to entertain some risk then he should have refused to get up on stage. He was looking for his fifteen minutes and now wants to cash in on it. Sad.

That doesn't entitle them to assault anyone -- and assault is the core of the dispute. They claim they did nothing harmful; he claims they did quite a lot.
If Blue Man Group assaulted this man, they should pay -- disclaimers or no disclaimers. And if they did NOT assault this man, the court should make him pay for bringing ungrounded and false accusations.

If this was a legitimate complaint, criminal charges would be more appropriate.

Cmon, does anyone really think a mainstream show would do what is alleged here?I'm thinking about suing them because they aren't really blue men, just men painted blue.

He's alleging something ridiculous. He's alleging they forced a camera down his throat to show it on the screens. Here's the problem with this:(1) If you've ever had a camera down your throat, you know that doctors will give you a relaxant and some drugs to make sure you're held absolutely straight so they can see. They aren't going to "circle you" and cram a camera down you because you'll immediately start gagging and quickly puke. The entire audience would have noticed if he started gagging, freaking out from his gag reflex. If he has a boatload of witnesses that this happened, his case is a lot more believable, but otherwise probably not.
(2) Here's the thing about #1, if the camera (which, really, for most use is about 1/8" in diameter or less, if it was a real medical camera) will still cause your throat to close up if you haven't been given drugs; which means it wouldn't be your fillings falling out weeks later, you would start choking and may cause permanent damage to your vocal chords and scaring on your esophogus that could require hospitalization immediately.
I'm not saying strange things don't happen, but if Blue Man Group actually managed to run a camera down him and thread his vocal chords without killing him or causing him permanent damage immediately on stage, in a way that everyone in the audience would have noticed instantly, then it means the staff of that group are all virtual doctors with medical degrees and by god, I'd pay to see that show.. if you can pull that trick off, it's pretty f*(& miraculous.

According to the linked article, the alleged attack took place in October, 2006 and it is now January, 2008. 15 months later. What took him so long to sue BMG for this alleged attack or am I missing something here?
