Turner Classic Movies with Rose McGowan

I might have to start watching "The Essentials" again on TCM starting in March when Rose McGowan co-hosts it with Robert Osborne. I'm kind of surprise that TCM has gone in this direction, but perhaps I'll be surprise by her film knowledge.

Anyhow, I wonder how many of us still watch this channel everyday? I ought to do a poll here in movies to see.

Re: Turner Classic Movies with Rose McGowan

I can't say that I watch TCM everyday, but I do check the schedule once a week and a lot of what I Tivo is from TCM. So, when I'm watching what I've Tivo'd, I'm watching something from TCM multiple times per week.

I'd say that TCM is an even greater channel than I give it credit for, since I only watch it for films I haven't seen, and it also plays tons of great films that I just watch on dvd.

Re: Turner Classic Movies with Rose McGowan

I saw Rose McGowan on TCM in December when they had celebrities program a few movies each night. She actually seemed fairly knowledgable and not a dumb bimbo. She may not be Pauline Kael but she's probably not just there for the oo-la-la factor either (though I'm okay with that too ).

I probably watch TCM twice a week and that's far more than I watch any other cable channel.

I guess I'm the dork then because I normally record 2-5 movies a day and sometimes up to 7 whenever they have a star marathon on or whatever else. If it's an actor/director I like then I'll record it if I haven't seen it.

Re: Turner Classic Movies with Rose McGowan

Eons ago, back when local TV used to show a vintage Hollywood movie every morning, I usually recorded 3-4 movies a week like that; then, the same thing happened when I first got Cable TV in the mid-1990s.

However, the state of things have degenerated so badly in the last 8 years or thereabouts (with nauseating repetition of the same movies day in-day out) that, for the last couple of years, I haven't been recording anything except mid-afternoon or late-night Italian TV screenings of vintage Hollywood movies or obscure Euro-Cult stuff...something which is occasionally reflected in my film vieiwng habits.
