I'm looking for a BD player, mid price, but my constraint is I don't have an HD capable receiver and have too big an investment in DTS/5.1 capable gear to upgrade at the moment. Cannot afford a new pre-pro and another amp. None of the receivers can drive my mains so receivers are generally not a good investment.

So my requirements, as I understand it, would be:

- internal codec to convert HD audio formats to DD 5.1 or DTS 5.1 output via Toslink or coax PCM (not HMDI)

- good upconversion to 1080p for SD discs

New monitor is a 52" Sharp , replacing a failing Pioneer Elite 65" RPTV.

Could not care less about profile 1.1. Will not be buying an HD-capable receiver for quite awhile.

I've read what I can find about the Panny, Sony, Sharp, Samsung but I cannot tell for sure whether the DD 5.1 or DTS output can go over the optical or coax links.

Help!
