Magnus & Larsson home theatre, fake??

Hey,
Does anyone know anything about Magnus and Larsson home theatre systems? I can't seem to find any information about them. I was approached by these guys that were selling me these Magnus and Larsson speakers, they claimed that Hoyts cinema uses this brand of speakers. They then showed me this magazine with the speakers being retail priced at over $1500 I could only find them being sold on ebay.

Then i also found this report that these guys are scams. But according to the reporter he said that they are low quality speakers, but maybe he doesn't know anything about home theatre systems?

So guys give me your opinions on this brand.

Re: Magnus & Larsson home theatre, fake??

yeah..... no....

I've never heard of 'em and a quick search just confirms you should absolutely not buy them unless you don't like money, or buying good, useful things with it.

there is a brand called M&K or miller & kreisel which made high end speakers and subs, but went out of business recently. they were having problems with cheap fakes being put out there under their name.

but that's it... don't buy 'em and if those guys come back, ask for their contact info and give it to the police or bbb.

Re: Magnus & Larsson home theatre, fake??

That's a odd question. They are Magnus & Larsson. It's just that particular "brand" is not exactly what you would call legitimate.

Re: Magnus & Larsson home theatre, fake??

Well, I'm now the proud owner of a Magnus and Larsson 3100 series home theatre system.

I'ts a good thing I don't like money or a wife that is not extreemly cranky.
The Magnus and Larsson "Installers" who had a couple of extra boxes in the back of their white van in Wollongong on Friday knew their was one born every minute (why couldn't my mum have waited an extra 30 seconds).
Their magazine from the UK that showed these exclusive pieces of equipment selling for in the range of $1500, how could I loose?

I'm putting the challenge out there! Who can admit to being a bigger idiot than me and paying more than my $200 to these wankers.

And to the two "installers" reading this, the drinks are on me (obviously).

Re: Magnus & Larsson home theatre, fake??

Sorry you got burned, you asked, we told you so, and you did it anyway.
My rule of thumb is that if I want to buy something, i'll go to where it is that sells whatever it is I want. I will not be minding my own business and be approached by someone selling something "at a good deal" and "today only" and make a decision right on the spot to buy something I wasn't planning on no matter the cost.

Don't be so hard on yourself. We all make mistakes from time to time. Put them on Craigslist for $300. There's got to be someone out there who's an even bigger idiot than you are . Gotta be.

Apologies for my previous post. Making lite of a fellow HTF members, um, unfortunate decision, is most uncalled for......but I sure enjoyed doing it! Anyway, back to this...

Many, many years ago there was an auction house in the S.J. Flea Market where people would bid up prices to three times the retail amount. The Auctioneer would then yell "not $699, not $599 or $499 but to every card that goes up.....$399!!!! Well, I got caught up in the excitement and wound up with a Sherwood stereo and cassette player and 4 "tower" speakers worth maybe $249. When the two guys loaded them into the back of my truck they looked at me as if I was the biggest &%$#@ idiot on the face of the earth. Learned a big lesson that day. Sold it to a co-worker that I really didn't like for $300. We both walked away happy.

The parts in bold are all you need to know. No commercial theater would use inexpensive product like that. Maybe to those slobs $1500/pr is a lot of money, but certainly not to that market.

Re: Magnus & Larsson home theatre, fake??

hey all, i hope the purchase hasnt been a shocker in the end! i came across this forum trying to find info on this manufacturer as my local cash converters (i like to browse lol) has a pair of towers for $1,100 second hand and a center and surrounds set-up for $900.... sounds like they are not worth half that?? btw, ive also had the 'white van' scenario... i cant see how anyone can fall for that...

Wow What are the odds of 6 new members posting their first post in the same thread? Or is there a glitch in the matrix?
