Sony DA5ES problem

Noob here with a problem. I have a Sony DA5ES and under normal operation at regular volume levels the audio will shut off and the display on the receiver says "Protector, Please Power Off". Sometimes it will work fine for an hour or two, and sometimes it will shut off within a minute of powering it on. I've totally disconnected it from all cables and speaker wiring and it will still do it. I took the cover off and blew it out. It was pretty clean inside, and I didn't notice any blown fuses or anything.

I appreciate any help.

I guess I have to ship this hefty beast to Sony? That's gonna be expensive.

Does that Sony firmware update solve this problem, or is that for some other issue?

Apparently it's still under warranty. Yay. Gotta love that 5 year warranty. Plus Sony pays for most of the shipping cost.

Is this 5 year warranty just on the ES amps? You don't see a warranty like that very often.
