Which wires

I'm about to start my home theater and was wandering which wires I should run from my front mount projector to my receiver? I'm kinda out of the loop on which to run. Last time I bought some for my Big screen was component. From what I've read, it would be HDMI. Should I run any other wires to it or from it.

Thanks Steve

Re: Which wires

It all depends....if your receiver will do all the swithching, then you will need just one set from the rcvr to the proj. You will have to determine what flavor after you pick the rcvr, or just run one HDMI and one component.

If you will do the video switching in the projector, then you will need wiring for each source to the proj. In this case, just run all your projector inputs out and down. You'll have to pick the proj frist, or just take a wild guess!

Re: Which wires

This is the projector I'm looking at Mitsubishi HC4900 1080p DLP. My rec is going to do the switching, But I'll probably run both. Thanks

Re: Which wires

I would run comp cables, and 3 cat-5 from the system to the proj. HDMI only if it's a short run. Long runs of HDMI aren't cheap, and may need a booster of some sort. Look at Key Digital for some ideas.
Otherwise you can use cat5 and convert it using baluns for HDMI. That's what we run for future HDMI use. Unless you plan plan on getting HDDVD or BL, HDMI is not needed. Just plan for future use. Also run a 2" smurf tube from system to proj as well. Never know what the future might bring.
