volume flucuation (need help)

Hello, i was wondering if anyone could help me....I've noticed a problem during some movies (musicals)...During "Selena" and "Rent" I occasionally notice the volume going low then high (particularly during musical numbers). My cds sound good though. I have an entry level Yamaha amp, and 5 speakers. Its not a home theater in a box or anything. I was wondering if amps maybe have an auto volume option I may have enabled or something. Thanks for reading.

Victor

Movied have dynamic volume that can play whisper soft to nuclear bomb load. The fluctuation adds realism to the soundtrack. This is normal.

If you would like to level out the volume, most receivers have a midnight mode although they may call it something else on your receiver. This can level everything out for you.

You should also make sure that all the speakers are set to the same level. An SPL meter or an auto calibration system with a mic on the receiver (like the MCACC system on Pioneers).

Re: volume flucuation (need help)

It only happens for a split second here or there and its kind of distracting. I have used an SPL meter and everything should be balanced. Thanks for the replies though.
