HT Room addition (hardware suggestions?)

Hi fello HT'ers,

I am currently building an HT room and am to the point in which I need to purchase hardware before i finish insulating the room and hanging the dry wall. My research has exposed me to an overwhelming amount of options. I am looking at the Epson Home cinema 1080 projector and the Panasonic AE 2000 or something like that. At this point I need to purchase my audio system and I have budgeted $2000 for the 7.1 surround audio. Fry's has an Onkyo/Polk audio system in a box for $1,999, However, I have nothing against buying individual components and eventually adding a stand alone video processor but for know the $2000 (approx) will be spent on the audio/video 7.1 system. I am looking for input/suggestions on Individual components.

notes:
speaker size = non issue
must have HDMI inputs and outputs 1080p
looking for the best audio experience i can get for $2k
will be using the system for sd-dvd, blue ray,Digital Cable (480) and HD - Cable

the connection inputs on projector should be HDMI/Component?

All help will be appreciated

Thanks in advance

Re: HT Room addition (hardware suggestions?)

My first suggestion would be go audition the speakers. Find ones that have a tonal quality that you like. It's difficult to recommend speakers since each person likes different thing. Some want a bright high end while others want the highs more laid back.

This section of the forum is for A/V sources. CD and DVD players, satellite systems, cable boxes, etc. There's a section for receivers, another for speakers and one for display devices (TV's and projectors). If you want to keep your questions all in one thread, then Projects section covers the building of complete rooms and how to furnish them with electronics and accessories.
