The Disclaimer
Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

"LP" in the RoundUp table means a store’s Sunday flyer says "Low Price". That means I could not locate a definite price for the item, and the ad is all I have to go on. Retailers use these phrases in advertisements so that they do not violate MAP (Minimum Advertised Price) agreements with the studios. Doing so can cost them thousands or even millions of dollars in co-op advertising funds.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in...as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don't get paid for this, and I don't have the time to list every DVD. So, please don't complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

Note that I cannot include Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club prices in the RoundUp. They set prices at individual stores based on nearby competition, so there is no way I can say here what price you'll find at YOUR local Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club location. And, as always, Circuit City does not guarantee their sale prices in Hawaii.

Thanks guys, as always. Wow, what a dead week for me. Nothing. Not even any of the cheap titles on sale.

Re: Weekly RoundUp 1-15-2008

Quiet week for me, although I would love to see Breaker Morant again. I haven't seen that in...wow...20 years?

When the best thing on sale is on Market Pantry water, then you know it's a slow week!

Thanks for the prices, Mike!

Re: Weekly RoundUp 1-15-2008

Thanks as usual.

Definitely:
Rockford season 5

Possible upgrades:
An Affair to Remember
In the Heat of the Night
When Harry Met Sally

My upgrading a dvd (as opposed to blu-ray) is a hell of a lot less likely these days, and I'd have to be convinced of very strong picture quality improvement, but these are the candidates.

Re: Weekly RoundUp 1-15-2008

Thanks, Mike and Patrick.

Just the Extras Complete Series set this week. It's a blind buy but I've heard a lot of good things about the show.

Re: Weekly RoundUp 1-15-2008

Thanks guys! I'll be double-dipping Earth vs. the Flying Saucers and It Came from Beneath the Sea. I kind of wish these were available at a better price, but, when you have to have it... you have to have it!

Re: Weekly RoundUp 1-15-2008

Best Buy also has all six Star Wars volumes for 9.99 each.

Re: Weekly RoundUp 1-15-2008

Another week, another lack of purchases. But if my financial aid comes in and after I pay off my classes, I might be getting a HD-TV, but I probably wait to get Blu-Ray, as the prices titles are a bit high at the moment.

Re: Weekly RoundUp 1-15-2008

Mike, you couldn't find a better picture to spotlight Good Luck, Chuck?

This movie was slaughtered by the critics, but I'm curious if its even worth it just for Jessica Alba. Heck, for her I even sat through Honey!

I have to wait and see if those get the Blu-ray treatment like 20 Million Miles to Earth did, or i would get the double dip as well.

Re: Weekly RoundUp 1-15-2008

Thanks for the roundup. Just When Harry Met Sally CE for me. It should arrive early in the week from DeepDiscount.

Re: Weekly RoundUp 1-15-2008

I'll be picking up:

Family Guy: Blue Harvest (I'm not a fan of FG but as a Star Wars fan, I have to say that they did a very good job with the parody)

And if anyone is buying the Extras series set just for the Special, it is going to be released on its own on February 26 so I'll be waiting until then.

Extras (US - DVD R1) in News > Releases at DVDActive

Thanks for the prices, guys!

Mike:

Since you failed to include a picture of THE most talked about item in this week's Round-Up, I've decided to include it in my signature....

Oh...and Family Guy for me this week.

I think the picture I posted is the best thing about the movie.

I haven't seen it...but all the reviews were merciless. They also all said the same thing: not enough Alba!

Eric: Thanks for picking up the slack on the Market Pantry Water pic! I should have included it in the "Features" this week.

Remastered Charlie Brown Valentine and Rising Damp: The Movie for me this week.

Re: Weekly RoundUp 1-15-2008

Long time reader, first time poster. LOL
I've been coming here for years every Sunday to look at the list. Props for posting each and every weekend.

I plan on picking up Lost S3 and Music and Lyrics at BB along with Spider-Man Friend of Foe for the Wii at BB.

As far as the discussion on Good Luck Chuck; I saw it in the theater and thought it was very funny. It's very much an "R" rated movie but I got a lot of laughs out of it. My wife also loved it. And of course there's the Alba factor, and you could watch her with the TV on mute and enjoy it.

Welcome to the RoundUp, Brad. thanks for checking in!

Can anyone enlighten me on the Charlie Brown release? I was amused when I saw it was re-mastered. I am guessing it has something to do with the fact that most CB releases have been over-saturated for years. Is this (Be My Valentine, CB) a re-release? Any word on why?

Warner bought the rights to release the Peanuts from Paramount. As far as I understand it, they plan on brand new releases of the cartoons, as well as new content sometime this year. This release includes: Be My Valentine, Charlie Brown; You're in Love, Charlie Brown; and It's Your First Kiss, Charlie Brown.

Another release is scheduled for Februrary with It's the Easter Beagle, Charlie Brown and It's Arbor Day, Charlie Brown.

Re: Weekly RoundUp 1-15-2008

But no high-def with lossless PCM audio?!

I'm curious as to the "remastering" tag. Are they really doing some clean-up work (which is what I naively always think when I see such things) or is it just a different company releasing the same material from the same elements?

Re: Weekly RoundUp 1-15-2008

^ The Home Media Mag review doesn't say, but I'm guessing Warner went through and cleaned it up as best as they could. (That's the only review online.) It wouldn't make sense for them to get the rights and then just slap something together. It probably won't look perfect, but they have done a good job with other animated releases.
