Could I possibly have a defective Onkyo TX-SR705

Thread Starter
Just received the TX-SR705 yesterday. I ran Audyssey and it doesn't recognize the subwoofer. (no sound is emitted) The subwoofer cable is in the correct terminal on the 705. I do get a hum from the subwoofer when I touch the cable post to the subwoofer jack. There is no sound from the subwoofer when I run the sound test. I have manually changed the subwoofer to on but still nothing.
Also, After running Audyssey and the calculation is complete I tried to review the settings before I hit save. As soon as I scrolled down to Review SP Config it froze up. I couldn't scroll off the SP Config screen so (after waiting 15 minutes) I hit menu to exit and all the Audyssey calcuations were lost.

Anyone have any experience with the 705? Does it sound like a defective receiver or am I doing something wrong.

I could sure use some input.

Thanks

I have a TX-SR705. Can you share with me how you set up the HDMI input for audio? In order for the dishnet or dvd audio to go active I have to go to standby and on a second time.
