Just wondering if anyone has seen this yet? Makes me nervous when I hear Burt Reynolds plays the King and Ray Liotta plays the evil magic-user.

Or better yet, get a bunch of your smartass buddies together and reenact an episode of MST3K. Works great for House of the Dead, Bloodrayne and Alone in the Dark.

(For the record, we've been waiting two years for this, after the trailer was attached to Bloodrayne...)

Re: In the Name of the King

For some reason, James Berardinelli is reviewing this. His review should be up Friday. I'll be shocked if he gives it a rating higher than 1 star.

Re: In the Name of the King

As much as we all hate Uwe Boll his last movie wasn't even in the same ballpark of bad as House Of The Dead. I imagine his Dungeon Siege movie won't be any worse than any other direct to Sci-Fi Channel movie.

Will I see it in a theater: Hell no.

Will I rent the DVD: Probably.

And I can only hope I'll be stoned when I watch it.

Re: In the Name of the King

Based on the trailer, this looks like it will make Eragon look like Citizen Kane...

What ticks me off is that this obvious stinker gets released into every theatre in town (where it will surely tank miserably), but the much-praised There Will Be Blood debuts in Houston today on ONE art-house screen 30 miles from my house.

At least you got "There Will Be Blood". I checked the listings and it looks like Edmonton gets to wait a bit for it.

That said, Bowl has explained that his Dungeon Siege series (yup, he wants to do a trilogy) well make everyone forget about Lord Of The Rings.

It opened in my town at the 2nd run cheap theaters. XD

Re: In the Name of the King

Yeah, let's all mindlessly jump on the Boll bashing bandwagon.

The fact is, BloodRayne is one of the most weirdly surreal movie experiences I have had in recent years. OK, so it's the only one of his movies I've seen, but it's a hoot.

Re: In the Name of the King

Well, I'm glad my money wasn't part of the less than stellar $975000 Friday gross. I can't believe it even made that much!

Re: In the Name of the King

I paid to see it and had more fun than when I paid for One Missed Call, if only because this fell into the hilariously bad category.

Re: In the Name of the King

I went to see this knowing the reputation of its director and I try to keep an open mind and give the benefit of the doubt. However, sadly, it lives up to all the shortcomings one might suspect from this filmmaker. It's just plain bad and a blatant rippoff of Lord Of The Rings trilogy. The dialogue is especially bad. Ugh....And I'm usually pretty forgiving for bad dialogue but there's a limit for even myself. The look of the film is adequate I felt at times given it's budget but it just tries too hard to be LOTR. ...

With all this said it's probably one of Boll's better achievments thus far. Maybe one day....Or does he care? Maybe Boll is content to keep making films his way and laugh all the way to the bank. Is he passionate about his films for the sake of filmmaking in the spirit of Ed Wood I wonder? How does he get decent actors to appear in his films?

Yes I know bad movies can have entertainment value in them but I'm trying to find merit in his films besides laughter!!

Leelee looked nice though

Re: In the Name of the King

There's nothing wrong with that... heh.

Course, I should mention that I haven't PAID for any of the good doctor's films. The only benefit of working at a theatre, naturally. So, my friends and I are going to take in a Wednesday night screening (on my birthday, no less) this week.

We've got five all together in our group. Should be fun...

Re: In the Name of the King

Well I finally saw it on Showtime. It was ok. Here is my thoughts...

-Good cast....poorly casted. Was Ray Liotta wearing the same black leather jacket from Goodfellas? I like Ray. But, not as a evil magic-user.

-Was it me or did the movie just seem to end? Their was no conclusion scene.

-Kristianna Loken looked good.

-After listening to him be a whiney-arse. The only resolution to Shaggy is that he gets arrested?
