I haven't tried any of the USB funtions but as a record player it does work really well. There's no cover for it, and no auto play.
I throw on some dolby pro logic music, and let it rip. Nice warm analog sound that you just can't beat.
Were you going to use it for the USB functions or just more as a turn table? Alot of the new vinyl comes with codes to download the albums. I'm actually more into buying new vinyl than collecting old stuff. All of my albums are of recent pressing. I don't have many yet, but it's growing.

I also have one of those ION turntables and have used it to connect up to my PC via the USB. It works pretty good. The only real difficulty I had was getting it set (and keeping it set) as the default sound input device. Seems like it is sometimes hit or miss as to whether I will hear anything without fiddling with it. But eventually Audacity and I got on the same page.
I have been using it to convert some of my vinyl from when I was growing up as well as some of my dad's old LPs and my grandmother's old 78's. I haven't had a lot of success cleaning these up, but I can't blame the turntable for that.
BTW, as to the subject of this thread, I am either going to bite on a PS3 by the end of the week or wait a year. At this point it could go either way.
