American Idol - Season 7 - Page 10

Re: American Idol - Season 7

Edit: reading what I typed, it will probably be even more confusing, but I'll try:

I have American Idol as a series recording. Tonight, the DVR automatically scheduled it from 7pm to 8:02pm. Because of those two minutes, the DVR could only record one of the 8pm shows that I wanted to record, since it is a dual tuner only DVR. As a result, I had to rush home to watch one of the 8pm shows live over the air. I could have told the DVR to end AI two minutes early tonight, but AI is known to go over anyway and I didn't want to sit through all of the fluff only to miss the point. As it turns out, it wasn't AI's fault this time. Whoever flags these things made an error.

Re: American Idol - Season 7

I just figured out who Jason Yeager reminds me of: He's an amalgamation of Val Kilmer and Tom Cruise from their Top Gun days.

While some assumed Orland...umm..Luke would have been booted. As I said before he will get a lot of votes because of his looks. The same with Kristy Lee Cook.

Did somebody mention Kristy Lee Cook?

Yeah, I dare her to sing live on the show.

She sa-- um, "performed" it during the Superbowl pre-game show. Sounded just as processed.

Dave,

It's a good pairing, but you have to find photos that match up better.

Thank goodness Amy Davis was given her walkin' papers, I haven't seen anyone embarrass themself like that since Ashley Simpson got caught lip synching on SNL lol.

I love love love Ramiele Malubay, cuter than hell and I love her voice.

In an interview, Amy said that she's used to in-ear monitors, and she just couldn't get used to the floor monitors and couldn't hear herself.

Greg!!!!!!!!!!!

I said the exact same thing about Kady Malloy as well!!!!!!

Regardless on how well she fares with her singing...the young sista ought to be an actress!!!!!!!!!!!!!

With all the attitude she displayed on Wednesday evening, she would be a serious force to reckon with on screen and/or stage!!!!!!

Kady sure does have award-winning potential to spare!!!!!

I like her immensely!!!!!!!

Re: American Idol - Season 7

Did you agree with the acting part in general, or Gwen Stacy specifically? I think she'll stay around for a while because of her looks, and she does have a good voice, but I hope she picks something more energetic that can showcase her talents better next week.

Dunno what they stylists are trying to do but they should stop it and leave it curly as hell.

Are you all smoking crack or something?????? Kady Malloy has no personality whatsoever and as far as stage presence goes, she might as well be asleep.

Re: American Idol - Season 7

Michael Johns - thoroughly lackluster effort by Michael Johns tonight. He brought nothing original to the song, but he seemed to struggle finishing off notes, so I don't know if he's under the weather, or just couldn't bring it tonight.

Jason Castro - another so-so effort dominated by Jason's guitar strumming, and his vocals just weren't imaginative or impressive at all. A minor setback for the dreaded one.

Luke Menard - the vocals were sung in a key too high for comfortable listening, and the lack of bass in Luke's vocals make it tough to enjoy a Queen song that was performed with much more zest and fire, which Luke lacked during most of his performance tonight.

Robbie Carrico - I felt like I was watching David Spade trying his best in a karoake contest because Robbie started out okay, but the song just sort of petered out, and Robbie never sold the song with the urgency and energy that this song demands.

Danny Noriega - covering a Carperter's song requires a strong commitment to singing it a higher key than Danny did, and he went a little too slow to the point of being a bit boring and tired by the end of the song. It's almost like watching Jessica Alba's kid brother sing when I look at Danny singing at times.

David Hernandez - the evening's first good, solid performance where you got the impression he commited to the song, and went for broke, but in a controlled manner. He did have a bit of a shlisp sound here and there, but overall, he had a good night.

Jason Yeager - a manic performance in terms of head movements and poor mic technique led to improper fade-outs. Jason still doesn't really know what to do with his voice, or his style without coming across too cheesy, but he did this week.

Chikezie - a very nice rebound with a solid performance with good vocal power and control, and he had fun with with the song, and really swung for the fences and nailed it. He really sold the 70's vibe of the song, too.

David Cook - Robbie Carrico should take some notes from David because David was rocking it tonight, good throaty vocals, but the only negative thing were the thin chorus lines that fell flat, but the rest of the performance was entertaining, and sounded legit.

David Archuleta - he's got such a distinctive voice and he commands your attention, and he never lets go of it until he's finished. David hits a home run tonight compared the rest of the field tonight. Good job.

Rankings

Worth listening to again and again:
David Archuleta
David Cook
Chikezie

Worth listening to again:
David Hernandez

Once was enough:
Danny Noriega
Jason Castro
Michael Johns

Put them out of their misery, please:
Jason Yeager
Robbie Carrico
Luke Menard

I think Jason Yeager and Robbie Carrico are going home (but wouldn't be surprise if it's Jason Y, and Luke that go home).

Re: American Idol - Season 7

Michael Johns - This guy is plain boring.

Jason Castro - Weak vocals and quickly being revealed as a one trick pony.

Luke Menard - This guys voice is like fingernails on a black board. He must be out of his mind to try a Queen song.

Robbie Carrico - I completely agree with Simon on this guy. He's a poser.

Danny Noriega - Big improvement over last week. The guy has a decent voice, but what genre does it fit into?

David Hernandez - Very good vocals, good stage presence and performance. He has an excellent voice.

Jason Yeager - Lounge Lizard.

Chikezie - The judges liked it, but I don't understand why.

David Cook - The real rock guy of this group. Unlike the poser, he's got rock in his blood. I like his voice, but wish he had done something more with that song. Simon was an idiot for bringing his pre performance film into the criticism.

David Archuleta - I think he's leaps and bounds better than the rest of the guys because it seems like it all comes natural to him and that performing is effortless for him. Sooner or later, Simon is going to get on him about how he reacts to the praise.

The poser and the lounge lizard have to go.

Re: American Idol - Season 7

Chikezie was my favorite tonight.

I want to hear David Hernandez do Living for the City. Anyone? Anyone?

Re: American Idol - Season 7

I truly enjoyed Chikeze's performance of "I Believe To My Soul", which was, of course, first popularized by Ray Charles with a rather interesting back story which was actually re-enacted in the Jamie Foxx film, "Ray", in 2004.

Of course, Mr. Eze's take came from the fine Donny Hathaway LP, Everything Is Everything. Donny's 1970 cover was very much along the lines in the way in which Chikeze performed it this evening...right on down to the final keyboard strokes at the end!!!

David Archuletta was solid as well with "Imagine", though I would love to see some people on a 1970s-themed A.I. night take on such other Lennon fare as "God", "Working Class Hero", "Mother", "Whatever Gets You Through The Night", "Mind Games", "Instant Karma", "Cold Turkey", etc. for a sweet twist.

Hmm...who knows? Maybe one of the girls will impress....?

Kady, anyone????

Re: American Idol - Season 7

Michael Johns - Not as good as he thinks he is.

Jason Castro - I like his vocals and style -- I'd buy an album of cover songs -- but he will not win.

Luke Menard - Takes on Freddie Mercury and sux.

Robbie Carrico - Total wanna be. Takes on Lou Gram and sux.

Danny Noriega - The prettiest one in the competition.

David Hernandez - Good job this week but his past will catch up to him.

Jason Yeager - Good voice but has no clue who he is as an artist. That, and he's annoying -- total cheeseball.

Chikezie - My second fave of the night. Has soul and style.

David Cook - Loved his performance last night -- my kind of music.

David Archuleta - Hands down the best vocal in Idol history for me. He's gonna win it and we'll remember last night as the one that sealed it for him.

Re: American Idol - Season 7

David Archuleta was very good last night, but the very best vocal in Idol history? I would have to disagree with Randy, Paula and Brett. I think that's overstating it a bit. But it was good, even if it was dragged out waaaaay too slow; that and the fact that I actually HATE the song Imagine. I'm probably the only person alive that does, but I HATE that song.

To be honest, I'm not a fan of the song either. But for me, it was the best vocal performance I have heard in 7 seasons. I was moved to tears.

Last night I was not impressed with any of thes guys except Archuleta. That kid can sing circles around any other contestant. I have no hopes for the girls tonight.

Nope, I can't stand it either, Lennon's version bores me to tears. The fact that this kid made me want to listen to it, to change the arrangement and tempo to where I enjoyed it, says wonders about his performance. I agree, he's my odds on pick to be the next Idol.

Are you kidding? When Ryan said that's what David would be singing, I deleted the recording. Nobody's going to sing Imagine to me, so I only saw the other nine.
