He had a bit of an accent when speaking afterwards, too. It was very Costner-In-Robin-Hood. Goofy!

I don't think it was the audition process with insturments, I think they are going to be allowed to use them in the Hollywood herd-thining stages.

I actually thought he had a bit of Ewin McGregor in Moulin Rough quality to his voice...just a bit, I like Ewin's singing in that movie lol.

Re: American Idol - Season 7

Good episode tonight. Amy Davis was hot. Every girl should have a little Japanese in her. Ashley Lawing wasn't very good, but I liked her attitude. Cardin Lee McKinnley wasn't that good, either, but also hot and she had potential. The Alesha Stelzl segment was just great, though. Best viewing moment of the entire audition round.

Re: American Idol - Season 7

So much for the auditions, now let's get down to business and start handing out walking papers to people en mass.

I made a decision for next years audition rounds, i'm going to get one of those mini digital recorders like writers use and record a sample of Michelle Trachtenberg from Buffy screaming "Get out, get out, get out!!!" and just hold it up and play it back whenever someone comes on who sucks.

Fun show tonight, that one girl who told Simon he could keep her dog if he let her through was hotter than hell.

Mmm...Cardin was a cutie.

Does the Hollywood "thinning out" process start tomorrow? (Feb. 12)

Thanks, Patrick...I can start recording the series again!

Re: American Idol - Season 7

That homeless kid needs to grow some stones if he expects to be involved in the music biz. I can't believe they let that Kyle guy through, he's not bad but nowhere near top 24 material, especially over that one girl with the sickly daughter, I liked her much better.

Re: American Idol - Season 7

Loved Michael Johns' vocals on Bohemian Rhapsody, just nice tone and range for a tough song to own (else, it'll own you if you don't have the voice for the song). I suspect his performances will be very memorable in the coming week (totally expect him to be in the top 12).

Brooke White is pleasant to listen to, yet I fear her style is more of the Adult Contemporary fare, but I do hope she makes the final 24.

Rock Nurse is like the female version of that Sundance Head guy from a year or two ago. A one-note trick pony at times.

Josiah is still just emotional cannon fodder for this show, sad to see him being used in this fashion because he is nowhere near ready.

David Archuleta is still sort of stuck in that Starsearch twilight zone for me, decent vocals, but nothing all that memorable.

I don't get the love for Carly Smithson, I find her vocals thin at times (or the recording engineer mixed her vocals down in her performance of "Alone"), and her phrasing off-putting, but I suspect some "payola" is going on to push her through to the top 24.

Syesha blew it out on her final vocal, good for her.

The other girl with the father who died right before the first audition has a weird raspiness to her voice in spots, but she's distinctive enough to make it to the top 24.

The politician kid is also cannon fodder, an okay voice, but not something that's going to sell records/CDs/downloads.

I didn't even notice Kady Malloy (singing-wise), but hopefully she'll also get a pass to the final 24.

Glad to see beauty queen get sent home, it was a pageant performance and wasn't original enough to go any further.

I fear for Kristy Lee, but hoping she can squeak into the top 24.

Re: American Idol - Season 7

To me the most significant part of "beauty pagent queen" getting the axe was that it was Paula who cast the deciding vote. She finally grew a set! (Not the set she already shows when bending over).

That tone she had when it came down to Paula's vote made me want to jump up tell her no. It was completely obnoxious and very much a reflection of how she is normally treated, as in "give me what I want, I'm pretty so obviously deserve it." It was just compounded in the hallway when she said "they didn't even give me a fair chance like everyone else."

to Paula's new set.

Yeah, it's just as well, continuing on with AI would have only gotten in the way of valuable hair brushing time anyway lol.

Re: American Idol - Season 7

Patrick, I don't like Carly either. Way overrated. And, I really feel for Josiah, but I hope he's going home. The keyboard performance they all loved was creepy to me. I haven't liked a thing I've seen him do.

On the other hand, the Australian dude is just plain awesome. He will absolutely make the 24, and I plan to see him going a long way. I also liked the Tommy Lee guy with the soul patch.

I did like the David kid, and I thought Kyle (he's the nerdy Donnie Iris guy, right?) had a really good voice. He could really work on not wearing ties and looking like a dork.

Brooke is my favorite by far of the ladies. Her hair might not be working for her, but I love her voice. I really need to order that CD of hers. I also liked the girl who was having voice problems.

I don't really know much about Kristy Lee's voice, but I want her through just so I can keep on lookin' at her. They didn't show her for a long time, so I thought for a while that she had been disinvited because of her contract.

Finally, it was clear that Alesha (the Islands in the Stream girl) was not destined to go far in Hollywood, but I wish there had been some followup on her.

Oh, yeah. And, the beauty queen deserved to go, but I wonder if Paula might have been won over if the girl hadn't gone pathetic and started begging. Just stand there and let her decide. Either way, not going to miss her.

Re: American Idol - Season 7

I tuned in as some blonde was appealing to Paula to give her another chance. Is that the beauty pageant girl? The pageant girl last week acted like a total ditz (jumping all over the place), but the girl last night seemed a lot more mature, older, and thicker than than your typical pageant waif (thus a LOT hotter). Unfortunately she was also somewhat obnoxious with her forced "c'mon Paula! Paula?!" familiarity with the panel.

So is it the same gal?

sometimes i dont get why they keep one and drop others.
i thought the young girl who spoke of not having sex earlier in the auditions(sorry dont know her name) redeemed herself during the
line second chance sing off.

the kid who cried was not good at all but still got through.

soul patch guy.
i just don't get that look.
i just see him pointing that thing up at whoever he was talking to.
at least when he was speaking with ryan he kept sucking in his lower lip and sticking that piece of hair at ryan.
just bugs me. is all.

the hair isn't working for me either.
is that a hair "style"?

i kinda like the kid with the tie.
he doesnt look like a bum or like he just rolled out of bed.
it worked for a long time for elvis costello.

Re: American Idol - Season 7

That creepy guy from Venezuela is really a shocker. he can't sing, is very creepy, and looks way older than what is allowed. plus, he needs to get slapped with sexual harassment complaint the way his runs around kissing every women he can find.

Re: American Idol - Season 7

well the one woman who he was kissing didnt seem to mind, until it sounded like he said he had a wife.

Re: American Idol - Season 7

I'm thinking it didn't bother Cardin all that much. It sure seemed like she was headed off with him, namsayn? I think she's headed off somewhere, because I don't get the impression she was in the last 50.

I disagree about the 16-year-old cheerleader. She clearly has a decent voice, but she didn't do well at all last night. I'm not surprised at all to see her go.

Yeah, it's the same. She was something like Miss Farm Fresh or something.

Re: American Idol - Season 7

The one woman, who didn't mind, Cardin, IS FREAKIN' HOT.

And she forgot the lyrics. /cries

Hope she redeemed herself on the 2nd audition (I didn't see her).
