Survivor: Micronesia (Fans vs. Faves) Premieres 2/7/08 - Page 10

Re: Survivor: Micronesia (Fans vs. Faves) Premieres 2/7/08

It's going to be an interesting 9 more days (I think the council was day 30 or so) once Ozzie and Jason compare notes on how they both made the same "James-like" mistake. I wonder if they will campaign against any conspirer who makes it to the final three.

Re: Survivor: Micronesia (Fans vs. Faves) Premieres 2/7/08

Your comment there reminds me that I thought it was odd the way Probst phrased it when explaining that the winner of this week's immunity challenge "is guaranteed at least one more day" in this contest.

I don't remember him saying it that way before. Made me wonder if there's another challenge right on this one's heels?

It would have been the perfect plan to have 4 votes for Parvati and then have Jason simply play the idol. This would have smoked out the idol as well as gotten rid of Parvati and shifted the power away fom Cirie and Natalie.

The only thing is that Amanda would now be in an alliance with James and Jason (and Eric) and that her chances of making the final three diminish compared to what she hopes is still alliance with Parvati and Cirie for a spot in the final three. So it would have been necessary for James (who isn't a social/strategic player) or Eric (ditto) to come with a plan and convince Amanda to go with them. Plus, Natalie's spell over Jason would have been difficult to break. He would have gone back to her and then they would have just voted off James to be safe.

How funny is it that Jason compared himself to and emulated Ozzy the whole time and ended up with exactly the same fate?

That's exactly right. Amanda sold out James to take her place with the ladies, which she thinks is ahead of the Fans' ladies. She'd rather take her chances in a vote against Cirie and Parv, rather than a final 4 of James, Erik, Jason and herself, where she'd likely have to win a tie breaker challenge against Erik or Jason to make it to the vote.

I still think James should have clued in Jason and Erik even without Amanda. Get them to vote for Parv, and then have Jason play the idol. His votes don't count and Parvati goes home (Jason's and Erik's votes for James switches to Parv, so she has 3 votes and James has 1). They then are outnumbered 4 to 3 for the remainder, but they have a good shot of convincing someone to flip with Parvati out of there as she is the link between the fans and faves ladies.

I swear, Jason might be the dumbest contestant in the history of Survivor. I've never seen anyone so dense on the show and that's saying something.

As for Natalie, I'm officially sick of her already and this is really only the first episode where she has really been showcased. Hope she gets blindsided like Ozzy and Jason and I hope it happens SOON.

Re: Survivor: Micronesia (Fans vs. Faves) Premieres 2/7/08

Can we just make a rule that James will be a contestant on every Survivor from now on? The man with his wonderful comments, his facial asides, and his excellent physical skills never fails to entertain. His poor political-people skills ultimately hamstring him, but I just love that guy!

Cerie is now in a position to win. She is letting Parvati and Natalie take the heat for being the blindside masterminds. What these ladies have forgotten is that the same people you betray must vote for you to win. All this glee in taking our jurors will return to bite them in the final vote.

The attempt by James (half-heartedly) to turn Amanda is a complete nonstarter. She's smart enough to know that the men are more physically able to win the critical immunities down the stretch, and more likeable generally. If she's in a final three with James and Eric, she comes in third. But with the self-described Black Widows, if she survived with say Parvati and Natalie, she wins. Amazingly enough if Cerie makes it to the final against almost any woman combo, she wins, despite being the major manipulator in the game.

Re: Survivor: Micronesia (Fans vs. Faves) Premieres 2/7/08

I agree, the pending loss of James is going to be even harder to take than Ozzy, because he is constantly cracking me up. I had to skip back several times to hear all of his comment, while casting his vote, on Parv frolicking and eating the Devils apple. He is definately the funniest survivor ever.

Re: Survivor: Micronesia (Fans vs. Faves) Premieres 2/7/08

What I love most about James is that he's just so real. If he's mad at you, he'll tell you. If he doesn't like you, he'll tell you. He could have let the whole Parv thing blow over and act like it was no big deal just for another warm night, but when she said, "She didn't want it to be awkward," he just flat out said, "Oh, it's going to be awkward." I was a huge fan of his when he was on the show before, and I'm a huge fan now. I just want him to win it soooooo bad.

Re: Survivor: Micronesia (Fans vs. Faves) Premieres 2/7/08

James is one of my all-time favorite Survivor contestants. Too bad his head is on the chopping block because of the "girl power" movement. Hopefully he'll pull a trick out of his bag and stay around a little longer.

Re: Survivor: Micronesia (Fans vs. Faves) Premieres 2/7/08

This is pretty funny:

Natalie-Survivor.flv - Video - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

At this point, I think I'm rooting for another guy winning over the hordes of women, like when Chris won (Ami and Eliza's initial season). This pretty much means Erik or James goes on and wins a bunch of immunities to get to the final 3. If the HII gets back into the hands of James or Erik (and the other of them wins immunity), then a culling of the women can happen. The odds of a guy ending up in the final 3 are probably 1/3 depending on gameplay.

For Parvati to win, she has to bring Amanda and James to the final 3 with her because those 2 would not vote for her on the jury, and she's pretty much lost Ozzy's vote, and Erik would be the one to give her the money at that point. I just think she made her move too soon (Cirie's plotting didn't help Parvati in the long run).

Re: Survivor: Micronesia (Fans vs. Faves) Premieres 2/7/08

Ozzy's reaction to James' comment about Parvatti being the one who orquestrated his demise was great but Parvatti's nervous facial reaction was even better.

I thought for sure that Amanda would ally herself with the boys because she seemed so upset that the other girls didn't include her in their plan to blindside Ozzy but in the end she didn't do anything to get back at them. I guess she is thinking that she has a better chance to making it to the final 3 with the girls than with the guys. And if she does, she has a much better chance of winning because she's the one out all the girls left that has not really pissed off the people in the jury so far.

This season has been great so far.

It certainly has. After Fiji I thought the show had finally hit the wall and I was ready to stop watching it, but the past couple seasons have been great and now that it's going HD next year I'm as excited about Survivor as I've ever been.

Re: Survivor: Micronesia (Fans vs. Faves) Premieres 2/7/08

Has anyone ever actually played the immunity idol when they needed to? I remember one who played it but wouldn't have been voted off that week, plus at least 3 who failed to play it and got booted.

Yau-man successfully played the idol at the final six in Fiji. Also, Gary in Survivor: Guatemala was set to be voted off before he played the idol, but the rules were different; the idol had to be played before the votes were cast.

In agreement with the thread that this season is great.

Bye bye Jason. Man, that was a laugh. He should've looked a mile away and he would've seen it coming.

Good luck to the other fellas. They're gonna need it!

Should be a really great finale show going by the comments here. Looking forward to that.

Re: Survivor: Micronesia (Fans vs. Faves) Premieres 2/7/08

Excellent episode tonight! Was definitely surprised Alexis left but thrilled--I sort of like Natalie although I don't want her to win.

If they didn't want Erik to win immunity, why didn't all the women just aim for Natalie's bottles?

Re: Survivor: Micronesia (Fans vs. Faves) Premieres 2/7/08

That was probably the sweetest blindside that I've seen yet......would have been sweeter......and wiser to vote out Natalie instead. That would have had me dancing for joy. Too bad though......Natalie is a snake and that makes her the most dangerous threat. Alexis is merely a tag-along. I doubt she would have got very far without Natalie's help.

A shame that James got sidelined like Jonathan....the good thing is he's spared the humiliation of being voted out by the 'black widow brigade'. Interesting to see Parvati so broken up about him leaving when she's been trying to get rid of him of late.......crocodile tears? I think so.

As for Amanda, what can I say.....those eyes, that body....I like her more than Parvati now. That woman is stunningly hot!!!! Glad she used that idol.

At this point, would you trust anyone to keep their word? With all the blindsides going on this season, I'd be playing to win and not take a chance by handing that necklace to someone that could just as easily turn on me.

Re: Survivor: Micronesia (Fans vs. Faves) Premieres 2/7/08

Yet another great episode.

My entire family just couldn't get over how much it sucked losing James that way. But you knew it was coming the way they highlighted the finger injury. James was class all the way out the door...keeping his perspective that it's just a game and that he needs his hands to do his work. You play the hand you're dealt and James kept his head through the entire ordeal. How nice that he also didn't think of himself as the guy who did the most for the tribe while everyone else did.

I noted Parvati's crocodile tears...but especially noticed the wall James put up during their goodbye hug. You can tell he felt nothing for the girl after her betrayal.

Nice acting job by Amanda (and Parvati) regarding the HII. I wished they would have voted for Natalie, too. Or, of course, Cirie. It's really hard to believe (or maybe not) that a professional nurse could wish injury/illness on others. Another reason to have voted for Natalie over Alexis is the depleted physical situation Alexis was in--given her leg injury. She would have had a really hard time keeping up on that gam.

I'm glad they concentrated so much on the Amanda/HII situation in this episode, but I was really struck how little attention they paid to the visit from the "loved ones." Except for the jellyfish adventure, it was hardly a blip on the radar screen.

I wonder how things will sort out for Amanda after this tribal council. She really laid out Erick pretty well during TC. Quite a dressing down. I think he will be a wildcard next episode. I thought Amanda's conversation with Cirie before the vote was also quite interesting. Wonder if it will come into play later on?

Again, a great, many-layered episode.

I could have watched Amanda dig that trench for at least an hour. Well played! This has been a really fun season of Survivor.

I agree with you completely. I was praying Natalie was the one getting blindsided because a.) she's a witch and b.) I'm tired of looking at her strange face(especially compared to Alexis who is so much hotter). The choice does make sense, though, because it would be a lot easier to beat Natalie than Alexis at the final tribal council. Alexis is one of the nicest people in the game and she didn't screw anybody over so nobody has an ax to grind with her. At this point I'd imagine they all hate Natalie so she should be pretty easy to beat. She could be a threat, however, so that choice may come back to bite them.

Sucks that James had to go out like that.

I gotta admit I was thinking of making this very post as I watched Amanda dig that trench:

Amanda's hot...even when completely covered in sand.

Re: Survivor: Micronesia (Fans vs. Faves) Premieres 2/7/08

I must say that this season of Survivor is quickly becoming my favorite one. The way that the immunity idol has played (or not "played") a role in the last three weeks has been classic. And as Jeff Probst mentioned the number of medical removals is a record for the show.

With next season's show being in HD I'm glad to say that Survivor is now something I look forward to each week and I think this will continue in the future.

Nicely played, Amanda!

If they keep this up...soon they'll have enough "medically-removed" survivors to put together an entire season of same! That could be fun!

Re: Survivor: Micronesia (Fans vs. Faves) Premieres 2/7/08

James, Ozzie and Jason.... that is how you play the idol! Nice one Amanda!

This was by far the best episode of the season.

I thought for sure Natalie was going home, but now that I think about it, it does make much more sense to vote out the nice one who has never rubbed anyone the wrong way.

Re: Survivor: Micronesia (Fans vs. Faves) Premieres 2/7/08

This is really shaping up to be one of the classic Survivor seasons.

Amanda played really brilliantly - from volunteering to go to Exile Island (at this late point in the game, why wouldn't you be jumping up and down to go there and look for the idol), to dumping all her stuff out of her bag to prove she didn't have the idol (thus ensuring she controled when people looked in her bag, rather than everyone looking once she actually found it).

And then she had to go and spoil her brilliant play by voting for Alexis? Why? Alexis is injured, she's probably not going to be a threat in any physical immunity challenges, assuming she's not forced to leave because of her injury (a real possibility this season). Natalie would definitely be more difficult to get rid of down the track. A serious mistake by Amanda to listen to Parvati rather than arguing for her position.

Re: Survivor: Micronesia (Fans vs. Faves) Premieres 2/7/08

Agreeing with Matthew. The best use of a blindside such as this is to get off a key plotter. Alexis, with her knee banged up, was not going to be a physical threat in the next immunity challenge so she could have been the next target. Now was the time to get rid of someone who would be hard to get the votes against, someone strong within the opposing alliance.

Re: Survivor: Micronesia (Fans vs. Faves) Premieres 2/7/08

I am going to be the devil's advocate here. Granted Alexis was not a physical threat due to injury. If by some stroke of luck she made it to the final 3, A & P were very concerned about Alexis's ability to persuade an audience - she is a motivational speaker. By keeping Natalie around, she has enough baggage with the jury and is generally perceived as a heinous wench. This is why they did what they did. Natalie isn't that big of a physical threat - but she is one sneaky bitch. I guess we'll see if this was a mistake or not. In any event, this is definitely one of the best seasons of Survivor, ever.

One more thought on Natalie - even members of the original fans tribe hate her (Jason and most likely Erik would not vote for her) but they all like Alexis.

Re: Survivor: Micronesia (Fans vs. Faves) Premieres 2/7/08

Sure - but with any contestant there are always advantages and disadvantages to keeping someone around.

With Natalie, she's a bitch and no-one likes her, so she'll be easy to beat in tribal. But that's assuming you get to the final tribal council, which given Natalie's potential for winning immunity (at least compared to Alexis) and recent ability to take control of the game, doesn't seem guaranteed.
With Alexis, she might be difficult to beat if she makes it to tribal, but it's surely not going to be too difficult to stop her from getting to final tribal council.
