Survivor: Micronesia (Fans vs. Faves) Premieres 2/7/08 - Page 9

Re: Survivor: Micronesia (Fans vs. Faves) Premieres 2/7/08

Best episode of Survivor ever! OMG, the look on the "one" voted out was the most priceless bits of TV I have ever seen....pure gold!!!

And one of the worst case of sour grapes reaction scenes as well....

Re: Survivor: Micronesia (Fans vs. Faves) Premieres 2/7/08

Well, Parvati definitely lost 3 votes on the jury, as did Cirie, so it'll be interesting if either get to the final 2.

Eliza's facial expressions after the verdict was rendered were funny.

Ozfather didn't take to his ouster too kindly, excellent, true reactionary comments from him. Kudos.

Re: Survivor: Micronesia (Fans vs. Faves) Premieres 2/7/08

Ozzy was one of the only entertaining people this season. I wasn't a huge fan of him in Cook Islands because he was painted as being so amazingly perfect and unstoppable despite being so bland. But even though he was a jerk this time, I was rooting for him because being an ass > no personality at all when it comes to these shows.

Cirie is pretty much holding the fort now. Jason, Erik, and James have their moments. An Alexis/Amanda/Natalie/Parvati final four would be nice to look at but incredibly boring to watch and unfortunately looking likely.

Congratulations Jenna Morasca, Parvati's going to take the "Most Unbearable Winner" title from you!

Re: Survivor: Micronesia (Fans vs. Faves) Premieres 2/7/08

A terrific episode. Even though I was a big fan of Ozzie and his amazing skills his cockyness cost him dearly. James even warned him of the 'girl power' alliance forming and that they might come after him. That said, it's rich that while Ozzie was planning to happily betray one person, he got angry because he was betrayed.

Once again Cerie demonstrated how skillfully she runs this game. She somehow always manages to be on the right side of every vote while rarely seeming to be a ring leader of the vote.

My greatest fear is that the remaining interesting players will get targeted and taken out and we'll be left with a bunch of bland fans whose only skill is to leave no impression at all.

James seems to be the next likely target. If he's smart he'll use the strategy the guy on Vanuatu used to break up the girl power alliance. Become the sincere big brother to Parvati or Amanda, and sow seeds of doubt in the women about their fellow women players. As much as I love James, I'm not sure he has the skill to pull off that strategy.

Re: Survivor: Micronesia (Fans vs. Faves) Premieres 2/7/08

Awesome! Definitely one of the best swerves ever.

I'm not a fan of Cirie, but at least she had enough sense not to stand back and let Ozzy control the game. I just couldn't stand Ozzy this season (too arrogant).

Re: Survivor: Micronesia (Fans vs. Faves) Premieres 2/7/08

I so called this one a while ago. I knew if Ozzy didn't start paying attention he was going to pull a James. What gets me is how angry he was after the vote. Earlier on in the epsiode, he and James were all " it's all about outplay, outwit and outlast" and how stupid it was of Jason to let his guard down.... looks like Ozzy let his guard down.

I don't feel bad for him and for him to use that against Parvati ( who ultimately broke the alliance) is pathetic. I guarantee he will use that against her if she makes final three.

Great episode!

Funny line from James tonight after Jason struck his deal.

"And I thought I was the dumbest Survivor ever."

But, honestly, I cannot believe the pack mentality (peer pressure) that went on when the group all decided to flat-out lie to Jason that they would "guarantee" they would not vote him off if he threw the immunity challenge and shared the food with them. Shameful. Just an awful display. How infantile to "cross their fingers" to make the lie okay.

I don't know if anyone else will care...but it sure struck me as an awful piece of gameplay.

Equally as bad a piece of gameplay was his decision to go along with their plan. NOT because he should have figured they were all lying to him, but because what benefit did he have of agreeing when compared with the obvious benefit of winning immunity to survive another few days?

Yeah, Jason's fortunate that Cirie was smart enough to come up with the Ozzy blindside because it was a dumb move. But I can't really blame the others for coercing him into quitting, although it did seem a little bit malicious considering it was just for some snacks.

My favorite moment was the look on Alexis' face when Probst told her she wouldn't be getting the food.

I agree, but in this game you can be completely dead in one episode like Erik was and then through a miracle not only be around the next week, but not even be on the chopping block. It's possible the same thing could happen for him next week when Pavarti and Cerie are in the crosshairs for flipping.

Not sure if this is a spoiler or not, but just in case:
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
(from the Ponderosa web clips) The worst move ever was Ozzie not even BRINGING the idol to tribal council. Everyone knows he has it and one of the most powerful ways of using it is to act like you're going to use it each time and then they don't even write your name down.

It'll be interesting to see if Ozzie told Amanda where he hid the Idol so that it could actually come into play afterall in a super-stealth sort of way. That would be classic.

All in all, it was a FANTASTIC episode on so many levels. Loved it.

Re: Survivor: Micronesia (Fans vs. Faves) Premieres 2/7/08

Ozzy got too confident obviously. Interesting since he hadn't won a challenge in a while and the group didn't appear to be hurting for food. He should have known that nothing ever stays the same in Suvivor. Alliances don't hold. He did think he had a spare vote with eric. I'm fine with him being bitter after TC. All the more power to people who can admire the other players for blindsiding them, but Ozzy's reaction was natural. If he's still bitter at the jury show or reunion show, maybe I'd change my mind, but his reaction was honest when the sting was fresh.

Got to hand it to Cirie. She has mastered not only flying under the radar, but also controlling the game without winning a single thing or doing much around camp.

Re: Survivor: Micronesia (Fans vs. Faves) Premieres 2/7/08

While Ozzy definitely played a great game, I agree with everyone else that there's a sweet irony in his getting doublecrossed at the TC that was supposed to oust the player he and the others doublecrossed.

The look on Amanda's face during the vote was priceless. She's usually very connected to what's going on, and she was completely blindsided.

James proves, again, that he has the ability to sense the shifting tides in the tribe. He's been ignored repeatedly, despite being right almost every time about who the real danger or weak link is.

I don't like Cirie, but she's doing an amazing job of playing the game. I think she has a shot at winning.

Erik and Jason continue to be hysterically innocent and naive. Both are strong physical competitors, but neither seem any good at the mental and social aspects of the game.

Loving this season.

And Amanda is still achingly hot.

Re: Survivor: Micronesia (Fans vs. Faves) Premieres 2/7/08

IMO, Ozzy surrendered the right to bitterness when he and James were making the "Outwit, Outlast, Outplay" comments while planning to vote Jason out after telling such a vicious lie. He came across as a total, classless a-hole who completely forgot what this game was about - whatta moron.

As for the other folks being boring - who's to say at this point that it can't change up? Through the use of plot devices, post editing and some other interventions we could still be in store for some fun.

I despise Cirie....I will admit that she's a masterful manipulator even though she's a weak physical player. This is precisely why she should have been taken out long ago....these 'under the radar' types should be weeded out early to avoid blindsides such as these. I'm really hoping that the tide turns on her - but with these remaining survivors, I doubt it. She's got the majority in the palm of her hand.

As for Parvati, her betrayal will definitely cost her.....from looking at the preview, looks like James is pretty pissed off. I don't think she has any chance to win the game at all.

As for Ozzy.....he really should have known better and used the idol. His overconfidence and arrogance was just too much this season. He has only himself to blame for losing. However, when it comes to the final vote, I'm sure he's gonna make an example of anyone left who betrayed him. That should be fun to watch.

Re: Survivor: Micronesia (Fans vs. Faves) Premieres 2/7/08

I think the other factor in Ozzy's overconfidence was that his last alliance was so strong. He didn't have to navigate shifting alliances like Cirie did.

I think Pavarti was smart to align herself with Natalie and Alexis, but Cerie is the mover and shaker in this tribe.

The turning point was Ozzy giving up the immunity challenge for 3 glazed donuts -- sending a clear blindside signal to Parvarti, Cirie, etc.

Ozzy's confessional was, indeed, classless. It's one thing to be upset. It's another thing to verbally go after the people who just outplayed you with such vitriol.

Hmmm. People weren't loyal (lied) to you...and this is just after you lied to Jason about guaranteeing him you wouldn't vote for him to leave? Give me a break.

Re: Survivor: Micronesia (Fans vs. Faves) Premieres 2/7/08

Emotions are high after being on this show so long. I kind of understand Ozzy's comments. He'll be a much different person with a much different attitude at the finale. Count on that. I'm actually happy he's gone. I hate it when player dominates so much and the others let him ride. That's what Ozzy has been doing for a while. He got used to it and didn't use his idol because of it. That's why he's gone.

Jason and Erik were both very funny this episode. I hope they remain. Erik at the reward among the bare breasted natives was choice. Somebody buy that dude a subscription to National Geographic!! I had access to those when I was 7 years old and it really helps a lot. :p

Cirie is a great player. It wouldn't bother me if she won.

That cross your fingers thing was a bit uncomfortable. I was surprised that everybody acted as if it would be no big deal, like he had it coming. Reminds one of "the truck".

Just watched that video from your link Patrick and all I have to say is.... Ozzy sure talks a lot without saying anything. I still find it so funny that these people get so upset with other players when they knew from the get go that this wasn't about making best friends or keeping your honor... it's about a game to win a million dollars. Get over it Ozzy.

Ozzy should keep his mouth shut. In the post-show interview at Patrick's link, he still in the "I can't believe someone would actually do that to me mode. Yet apparently it's okay for him to care more about a "few thousand dollars" than to be honest with Jason. He needs to get a clue.

My favourite came a couple of seconds later, when both Alexis and Natalie had been eliminated without getting the cookie. James started to laugh at them, and then...
And the cookie remained uneaten. That is funny.

That's always the case. Witness every final tribal council, where there's always a few people who is pissed off that they were betrayed, even though they themselves were planning to betray the very same people. Winning in Survivor is often just about timing - using your alliance to get you into a good position in the game, but then taking out your alliance one week before they were planning on taking you out.

Full credit to the people that sort the vote order before Probst reads them out. Rather than taking the usual all-votes-tied-as-much-as-possible approach, they did a nice job in arranging it so that everything seemed to be going as Ozzy expected, with Jason only one vote awap from elimination, and Ozzy only having one vote that he would assume was from Jason. And then the second Ozzy vote came out, and the third, and the fourth, and then the fifth and you could just see Ozzy's world collapsing as he realised he was about to go. That made the elimination.

(Well, that and Eliza's reaction. Normally not a fan of jury reactions (see Coby on Palau) since they normally seem to be about getting more screen time, but Eliza's reaction seemed to be born out of genuine shock and excitement, so it was fun to watch.)

I also enjoyed watching Erik's reaction to the reward. Like Ozzy said, he has a genuine reaction to the experience that is quite refreshing and enjoyable to watch.

Re: Survivor: Micronesia (Fans vs. Faves) Premieres 2/7/08

I think CBS made a mistake; tonight's episode was just a repeat of last week's...

Seriously, I'd be shocked if in the future (especially post-merge) people don't play idols as soon as they find them. Even if it goes to waste, at least that's better than holding on to it when you really need it.

Re: Survivor: Micronesia (Fans vs. Faves) Premieres 2/7/08

I can't believe that plan actually worked. I was sure Amanda was going to flip it so that they took out Natalie or Alexis or Parv/Cirie (if they tipped off Jason).

Also, was Alexis supposed to vote for James to keep it close? Weird.

Nat, Amanda, Parv, Cirie voted for Jason.
Erik, Alexis, Jason votes for James.
James voted for Parv

Re: Survivor: Micronesia (Fans vs. Faves) Premieres 2/7/08

I cannot believe that Amanda and James did not go to Erich and Jason and explain the plot against Jason and regain control of the game. That was an incredibly dumb slip-up.

They knew exactly what was going-on...and think they did well because Jason didn't play the idol and James is safe for another day. But now they will just be next on the "to go" list.

Erich is playable and Jason would have flipped on Natalie or Parvati once it was explained to him. Amanda had the information first-hand.

Dumb, dumb, dumb.

Yeah, Patrick. It was my understanding that they wanted to lull Jason that he was safe by voting off James...but that they had to keep James as second in votes in case Jason DID play the idol.

Re: Survivor: Micronesia (Fans vs. Faves) Premieres 2/7/08

Well, I guess we all know now why Natalie has been laying low......she was just biding her time waiting for an opening. Now that she's found one, she's become a major power player. She's definitely drunk with power that's for sure. Not liking her smug attitude one bit and am really hoping for her to get booted out by some sort of miracle......that's what it's going to take too since she's got the numbers on her side at this point. I think she's as dangerous as Cirie is now. The time is now for James to start winning some challenges.

I really liked how James outed Parvati as the one who orchestrated Ozzy's ouster.....the reactions on both Parv and Oz were priceless indeed. I wonder what word he was muttering to himself at that moment.

Re: Survivor: Micronesia (Fans vs. Faves) Premieres 2/7/08

That was the bird that Ozzie flipped (and CBS blurred out) when entering as a member of the jury tonight, right? And I can just imagine what Jason will expose when he parades in at the next tribal council. Will it be a case of "Moon over Micronesia?"

Seriously, the past few weeks have been some of the most enjoyable Survivor episodes in a very long time. And with HD coming to Survivor for next season I'm really looking forward to the next installment.

Well played - and if anyone in the future hordes an immunity idol they should be given a dunce cap to wear. In fact, the next immunity idol buried on Exile Island should be in the form of a cone.

I'm rooting for Eric the Birthday boy to somehow overcome all the very long odds to somehow make it to the final three. I feel that enough damage has been done by the "ladies" so that the majority of the jurors will vote for Eric over any of these "w"itches. Just a hunch.

OMG, Robert! I had seen it simply as the back of his hand that Ozzy had shown the remaining survivors. After your post I had to go back and play it again and realized you were right!

Looks like Ozzy was still in major sulking mode. I suspect he will remain pissed right through final tribal council.
