Can my Denon AVR-685 handle HD analog audio?

I'm preparing to enter the HD-DVD/Blu-ray game, and I'm trying to figure out whether I need to upgrade my receiver. As I understand it, one of the popular options to do HD audio with an older receiver is via analog audio inputs from a player that will output said audio. Unfortunately, I don't know whether my receiver can do this. According to the specs on amazon.com, my Denon AVR-685 has:

"a set of 5.1 external wide-bandwidth (100 kHz) inputs for multichannel formats such as DVD-Audio and Super Audio CD."

Will that do the trick?

Yes, provided that your player

a) has 5.1 outputs (The lowend Toshiba doesn't)
and
b) can decode the formats (the lowend Sony can't)

Re: Can my Denon AVR-685 handle HD analog audio?

That's promising. Now, my second question: what do these inputs look like? The following link from Amazon shows the back of the receiver:

Amazon.com: Denon AVR-685S 6.1 Channel Surround Sound Home Theater Receiver: Electronics

I'm not sure what I'm looking for, but I don't see anything that looks like a set of 5.1 inputs. Am I wrong?

Those are the ones. I think they are on the lower left marked "EXT IN".

So what kind of cables would you use to hook these up?

Another question: is there a switch/adapter I can buy to allow me to use two sources for the one set of analog inputs? E.g. separate Blu-ray and HD-DVD players?
