Does anyone have a pair of Allison speakers for sale? Let me know what you have and the price.

Re: Allison Acoustics Speakers

There's a couple of pair here:
Allison speakers, Home Audio, Vintage Electronics items on eBay.com
The CD-6 speakers have a damaged driver. The PB 8.2 speakers are the new version of my AL-115's. I love my AL-115's!

In case you don't know about it already, there's an Allison forum here:
The Classic Speaker Pages Discussion Forums (Powered by Invision Power Board)
You may find something around there. Do you already have some, and want more, or are you looking your first pair?

Re: Allison Acoustics Speakers

I have a in near mint condition and would like a pair of another model. I love my CD-7s. I have never had anything that images as well in a medium sized room.

Re: Allison Acoustics Speakers

If I had the money, I'd be all over those PB 8.2's. They'd be a perfect match with mine. I'd use them as my rear speakers, and then all I'd need would be an Allison center.

I've tried to tell people about Allison speakers. Because they've never heard of them, they just ignore them. Their loss! It's really a shame........ Several people at AudioKarma.org, have Allisons, and have raved about them. Some found their's at Goodwill Outlet stores, or Salvation Army Outlets. Keep an eye on Craig's List too.
Good luck!

I am interested. Is it a top grille of one of the front grilles that is damaged? How bad is the damage?

Re: Allison Acoustics Speakers

Yes, it's the top grill(e) from one of the speakers. It's beat up pretty bad, has a couple of long cracks and is missing a chunk off the edge, about an inch wide. It's been detached from the speaker and I haven't bothered to glue it back on. These plastic grills are pretty brittle, so if you have any kind of damage, it's probably a goner. I think I've seen a link somewhere where you can purchase a replacement. The exposed tweeter and midrange paper cones are a bit knocked in, but I don't detect any difference in sound from the other speaker. As far as function is concerned, no issues that I can tell.

Re: Allison Acoustics Speakers

You don't know how much I would love to have the AL-115s. I have a pair I've had for about 15 yrs. (oak finish), and I love them. The foam is falling apart on them now. Heck, I can't even afford the $20+ refoam kit right now, so I definitely can't buy a pair of speakers. Good luck selling them. Whoever buys them will be getting one heck of a speaker.

Re: Allison Acoustics Speakers

How about a trade? I have the pair of AL-115s in my possession for either some cash or a good trade. Also have the AL-120 speakers (pair). Would be willing to trade if there's something i need or want. Also, I have a couple of actual "bookshelf" speakers. It's model number is REF-303BK made by Stanford Advanced Acoustic Technology (SAAT). I think SAAT was part of Allison or may have been owned or did own Allison before, not sure though. But anyways it's a pair of speakers that looks like actual books. Amazon used to sell them for $150 + shipping. Pretty good speakers if you ask me...

Allison Ones show up on eBay every once in awhile.
Y'all can go to audiokarma.org and ask there too. Several people there have Allison Ones, and other models.

Re: Allison Acoustics Speakers

This thread has a lot of action for speakers that supposedly no one has heard of . I'm vaguely familiar with them but maybe I should investigate a little more. I'm mostly happy with what I have but there's no harm in learning something new!

Re: Allison Acoustics Speakers

I, personally, think Allison is some of the finest speakers that's been made. I've always wanted some Allison Ones, but couldn't afford them. Back in the 60s (I think), Roy Allison was the chief engineer for AR speakers. He was in that position when he left to start his own company.

Here is a good review that was for Allison Fours, but would really fit about any Allison. Check it out........

I have a pair of Allison 4 speakers, I believe they're in good condition, yet sold as is.   $300 OBO plus s/h by usps, which is about $30 per speaker, but will get price if you are serious.

That is a very tough question Allison One's where out of my budget in 1978 when I bought my Allison Fours which were $375/pr. When the Allison One's where re-released in about 2006 they were  $5350/pr. I currently have both the One's and the Four's which I would NOT sell. If ericrk still has his Four's for $300. you should buy them they sound sublime when set up properly ... vocals are stellar. FYI: Do not replace the woofers on any of the old Allisons for $25 you can re-foam them they are not replacable everything in the box was custom designed by Roy. Roy Allison left AR with the former president Abe Hoffman to create the best speakers in the world ... they don't have a "sweet spot" like all the flat baffled speakers so you can be most anywhere in the room and get great sound. Roy's main objectives was to eliminate the dip in power in the 100-300Hz range and that makes for full and rich vocals etc.
