Questions from an idiot

I have a hd direct tv sat receiver and a FTA non hd receiver in my LR. I plan on running a feed from each to my BDRM. I cannot run an hdmi cable b/c there is only 1 out from sat rec. So i run component cables, right? Also for audio, do i use a digital optical or a toslink. The run is about 25-30 ' do i need anything else. What is the difference between a digital coaxial cable and any other video/audio RCA cables. All replies appreciated, Chris

Re: Questions from an idiot

There are HDMI distribution boxes where you can send 1 HDMI source to multiple TV's. They aren't cheap but they work. Component is easier though. You can make your own cables with RG-6 or RG-59.

What is your bedroom besides the TV? If it is just a TV, then you use the R/L analog audio. If you have a full surround sound system, then coax digital is probably the best to use due to the price of the cable. While you make your component video cables, you can also make a coax digital audio cable. They are the same type of cable.

In the Bdrm i have a vcr and dvd player. This with the 2 other sat feeds makes it complicated. I do not want to buy or use a ht receiver in the bdrm. I may have to utilize a component switch box that i viewed on monoprice (anyone try one?) Does a 25-30' cable run degrade the signal noticeably? Thanks for the responses
