Can Sim2 fans be replaced?

I have a Sim2 HT200 DMF, about 5 years old now. When I turn it on, it often suffers from noise (rattle) caused by fan vibration. This can be fixed by turning on and off a few times, which obviously takes a while. I want to take a look at the fan and tighten up the screws. I've done this on PCs but have never opened up a projector. Is anyone familiar with this model? Any advice on cleaning and tightening the fan would be very helpful.

I also wondered whether the fan can be replaced - I heard that some projectors use the same fans found in PCs. The Sim2 documentation doesn't really give any information on the fan in this projector. There are some almost silent fans in the PC market though, so if replacement is feasible, I'd like to do it.

Thanks for any advice you can give.

Re: Can Sim2 fans be replaced?

, give it a blast of compressed air to clean out dust etc ,you may try little squirt of wd40 into the fan spindle rather than seek replacement ...dust etc can make it sound like a rattle or squeal...be carefull , only needs a drop .use the straw ..has worked on a lot of fans in my electronics in the past.....just a thought that might be helpful ....

Thanks, I'll give that a try.
