1080i on my "Ancient" Sony KP53V85

After 6 years of solid reliable viewing duty (not to mention being moved to 3 different homes), my Sony KP53V85 is finally receiving HDTV via the Y, Pb, & Pr inputs. It automatically detected 1080i HDTV. I am extremly happy with the results. The unfortunate thing is, of the TV's 2 "component" inputs, actually only one supports Y, Pb, Pr. I cannot even display my DVD player's 480p on the remaining input.

My question is can I via high quality RCA Y adapters or a switcher get good quality video since the the 2 will never be on at the same time (480p DVD or 10801 HDTV)

I can't afford a new TV (or want one - for now). The picture does give today's DLP projectors a run for their money.

Any thoughts out there?

If you Google Component Switcher, you'll find a number of devices to do what you need. Some have had good experiences with an analog Video switcher using the 3 RCA inputs for the component feeds.

Thanks Scooter. I'll give that a shot. I priced some high quality Y Adapters and its a pricey experiment. I think going with an RCA video switcher will be a better solution.

Hi there, I do have a KP53V85 and was wondering if you can tell me how to get 1080i HDTV from it? Is it capable of producing the signal? Thanks for any help.
