Hey, I'm looking to upgrade my six year old 32" Sony 1080i CRT, especially now that I have HD-DVD (A2). I was looking at the SXRD initially but I was astounded to see Sears and Best Buy selling the Panasonic TH-42PZ77U for $1799 or less. Should I jump on it? That price seems almost too good to be true for 1080P plasma. I'll be primarily using it for DVDs and HD cable. Any guidance at all is appeciated.

Wait and watch prices on this model at Sears, it periodically dips to as low as $1399 and has gone as low as 1199. It's one of the few plasmas with a truely matte finish non-glare screen.

Re: Panasonic 42" 1080p Flat-Panel Plasma?
If $1800 is within your price range you might even consider getting the 50" model, which I've seen advertised just now in at least 2 places for $2000 after standard shipping. Otherwise you should be able to find the 42" model for $300-$500 less than the list price (like he says).I got the TH-42PX77U earlier this year and I'm very happy with it despite its measly 720p resolution. Actually the coolest thing about it is the anti-glare screen coating, which is a godsend for my particular situation. Anti-glare seems like such a no-brainer I wonder why they only started mass marketing the technology in the last year.

Thanks for the responses, I'm going to watch the price a little while longer and, if need be, Sears will let me price match, so I'll be paying attention to other retailers. I'll probably stick with the 42". Thanks again.
