Sub question

So I was just wandering the receiver I have is rated at 8 Ohms but the sub I'm looking at is rated at 6 Ohms. Does this matter or do I need to look at different subs.

Need more input. It's not likely that a 6 ohm nominal load would be a problem for an 8 ohm rated amplifier, but you don't give enough details of your plan to say for sure.

Model numbers would help. Is this a passive sub (no amp) that you plan to power with your receiver?

If it's a self powered sub, then your question is even more confusing. One must assume the mfg chose a suitable amplifier for the driver.

Your receiver/processor amplifiers don't "see" the subwoofer driver's impedance through the LFE/Sub preout connection. Even if you use the speaker level connections on the sub's plate amp (if available), those inputs are really high-to-low level converters that present some ridiculously high impedance to the source amplifier to the point of being a negligible power draw.

Why so stingy with the details? More info upfront gets better a quicker answers.

I'm sorry the receiver I have is the Sony STRDG510 and I was just surfing around Sony's website and the sub that I will eventually get is the Sony SA-W3000 and the website said it was rated at 6 ohms but I know the receiver is rated at 8 ohms so it kinda confused me. I have not bought the sub yet or any speakers for that matter I have to save my nickels and dimes for a little while first. But Every review that I have read the say this is a great sub for the money. I hope this helps.

Ok, Sony's placing a weird spec in their description. That's just saying the 3000's amp delivers 180 watts into 6 ohms at 80hz with 10% THD.

That aside, you'll connect the subwoofer via a line level RCA interconnect so any receiver will work with that sub.
