First off, I'm a new member and this looks like a great site. There seems to be lots of good info even though home theater can be somewhat subjective!
I am building a new house that will be finished this spring. I am gonna be traveling on business until then (for about the next 5 months). So I sold my Def Tech BP7006, CLR-1000, BPX, Yamaha RX-V661 setup. Of course, I'm already shopping for what I'll be replacing that system with when I get in my new house. The new system will be going in the living room area which measures 16' x 18' with a 10' ceiling but the dining area, kitchen and living room area are all very open like alot of modern floor plans are these days. The only thing dividing the rooms will be a breakfast bar. So that creates some accoustic problems. The system I've been eyeballing is a Mirage system:
(2) Omnisat V2 FS Towers
(2) Omnican 5 in-ceiling surround speakers
(1) Omnisat V2 CC center
(1) ???sub??? maybe a Velodyne or???
I've only heard a little music on this setup at medium volume, but it sound crisp and clear. I'll be using it for music and movies both. Can someone recommend a good sub for this setup? Or maybe Mirage is no good at all and you could recommend another system in the $2000 range. I think this Mirage system will cost me around $1300-$1500 not including sub or reciever. On my budget, that will leave me $1200 - $1400 for a sub and reciever. I've also been thinking about the Def Tech Mythos One towers, Mythos Three center, Mythos gem surrounds and SuperCube II sub. That system is nearly double what the Mirage is price wise....does it sound that much better? I'll be demo-ing alot over the next few months but this will give me a good place to start. Thanks in advance for any and all advice and insight.
