Re: Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl Framing Issue

You should just check out if you really want to be sure. There's enough screenshots floating around the internet, just compare those with your own copy.

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl Framing Issue

Disney is still doing running a replacement program.

I filled out the form (linked to in the first post of the thread) Saturday and received a response this morning from Disney asking for my full contact information. Upon supplying that, I received another email stating they were sending out a postage paid return mailer and I am to return the faulty disc and keep disc 2 and the case. They will then send me a corrected copy of disc 1.

My 3 movie set appears to have the correct framing.

Thanks to whoever resurrected this thread. Finally fired off an e-mail and a corrected copy will be winging its way to me shortly.

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl Framing Issue

I guess I should finally check mine as well -- totally forgot about it. I would think mine should be fine since it was one of the 5-free I got from Sony via the mail-in rebate for buying the PS3 -- and I received it some time late last spring or early summer, IIRC.

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl Framing Issue

This kind of reminds me of a Chevy Cavalier I bought back in June of '93. I had it for about 3 years and took it in for a bad vibration in the steering. The service writer checked the VIN and told me there was a recall notice on my make and model because of a faulty steering wheel clip which could cause the steering wheel to come off while driving. That didn't bother me as much as the fact that the recall was issued in late '93 (October I think) and GM decided it would be best not to inform the owners of the vehicles affected, but to have the dealerships replace the part when and if the vehicle came to the shop for random service. And that didn't bother me as much as the fact that I always took my car to the dealership for oil changes and routine maintenance and no one ever bothered to tell me my steering wheel could have come off in the past 3 years!

One more reason not to trust most local car dealerships I guess...

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl Framing Issue

Just an update... My return label came in on Saturday the 21st and I mailed the disc out on Tuesday the 24th. Now I wait and see how long the turn-around is.

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl Framing Issue

Hey guys.

I might sound stupid but I got my letter from Disney to return my bad disc and it's just a little Index Card with Postage Due on it. How do these work? Do I just goto the Post office and get some kind of package for my disc and then give them the index card? I guess I have to buy my own packaging huh? I hope all the information on the question form isn't vital. I don't even remember when I got this movie exactly anymore.

Bump in hopes of getting a reply. Surely someone can explain how they mailed thier disc.

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl Framing Issue

Wish I could help Adam, but looking at my old post I never got a label or mailer so I still have my old disc. BV apparently used to send the disc first and then expected get the old disc back.

I'd put it in some sort of cardboard sleeve left over after I throw away the CD from one of those giveaway/demo (or make your own from some sort of thin cardboard) or even a paper CD sleeve, put it in a big Hallmark envelope, and mail it in -- if it breaks I figure it BV's fault.

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl Framing Issue

I just did this a few months ago myself. Here's what I recall doing:

Once you get the letter from Disney you fill out the questionaire as best as you can. I doubt they even need it, but I did the best I could.

You take the faulty Disc 1 out of your case (don't send them your case back to them) put it in a padded envelope and affix the index card on it. Disney pays the postage for you to return it. You do need to come up with a mailer though.

Wait a few weeks and viola! Your disc should arrive in the mail just like mine did.

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl Framing Issue

Thanks Peter.

I hope I did it right, I just sent my off this afternoon. I was a little hesitant to use the index card thing (It's actually a sticker label) beacause I noticed the postage due address isn't exactly the same as the one on the bottom of that form you have to fill out. It is the same city at least, somewhere in WI if I recall. I hope that label gets it to the right place beacuse it's all send off...for better or for worse...Haha.

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl Framing Issue

Wow...yours was a sticker? Mine was just a printed card and I had to tape it on the envelope.

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl Framing Issue

Yeah. It was actually the Post Office worker that used it as a sticker...he just seemed to know it was one.

Guess using that as my mailing address was the right thing then huh?

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl Framing Issue

I wonder why you guys South of the 49th have to send the disc back first? I sent an e-mail to them and they asked for my shipping address. I gave them my address and also asked if they wanted me to send the old disc back, once I received the new one. They just told me to throw the old one out after the new one arrived.

I got my replacement disc in the mail today. I'm not complaining, but it is strange that they want American buyers to send their old disc first.

Can I ask how it was shipped back to you? And did you also have to send in the defect first?
