I personally would like to see own "Bargains and Deals"-forum for HD (at least software). Would that be a bad idea?

New "HD Bargains and Deals" sub-forum?

Re: New "HD Bargains and Deals" sub-forum?
Either that or just leave the threads in here. Not much of anything is going on in this area lately (title announcements have pretty much dried up over the past 6-8 weeks) so it's not like space is at a premium.Personally it's too much of a bother to sift through the Deals area to find threads on HDM. In fact I can count on one hand the number of times I've only gone to that area purposely over the past 10 years I've been visiting this site.
How about just shitcanning the format war threads? That aught to free up some bandwidth.

Why the hell would anyone need another forum added for that? The regular Bargains and Deals forum doesn't get much activity to begin with. Not everything needs to have a seperate HD section.

I go to the bargains area a lot. It seems the majority of the threads are already about HD so I don't think it needs it's own category.Re: New "HD Bargains and Deals" sub-forum?

I don´t really visit in the "Bargains and Deals forum", since it´s mostly some "DVDs with 2$ off, wow!"-type of threads or some BestBuy/Circuit City-stuff. "Sale" to me means something more (and these Amazon "buy 2 - get 1 for free"-sales are just great).
Just an idea and originally posted to the HD-area.

I think the status quo is fine. There aren't enough deals to support its own forum/sub-forum. Such a forum would result in "HD DVDs and BDs with $2 off, wow!" posts.
One thought the admins may want to consider: DVDTalk has a sticky thread in their HD section specifically for HD bargains. Maybe that'll work? Makes more sense than an actual sub-forum.

Re: New "HD Bargains and Deals" sub-forum?
Wow. Not much love in this thread apparently for the "Bargains and Deals" sub-forum.On the OP's question about the need for a separate forum for HD media bargains, I would have to say I don't think it's necessary.
Frankly, I think the Bargains sub-forum is holding its own quite nicely right now with the Weekly RoundUp including the weekly deals on both SD and HD titles...and all sorts of threads about various HD BOGO deals and other various SD media and hardware deals all peacefully co-existing side-by-side. I even think most of the thread titles have done a good job of spelling out what people will find when they explore further inside those threads.
Separating bargains into two separate sub-forums for SD and HD would, I think, create the necessity for most bargain hunters to visit both since there are many forum members who have only engaged one side of the HD format war and are shopping for their HD format of choice and SD media from those studios who only support the opposition!
Just my $.02 on the subject.
You could also look at the "Software for Trade/Sale" sub-forum where you'll find a great majority of recent threads have been about HD media. I don't think though that there should be a separate sub-forum created for that either, though. There's plenty of room for both and, again, the thread titles are pretty clear about what contained within.
Jari: I would suggest that if you are looking for info on Amazon HD BOGO sales, stop into Bargains and Deals more often..because I think they've all been covered there over the past several months. Yes, you'll have to sift through the thread index which is going to contain numerous threads referencing the big U.S. media retailers like Best Buy or Circuit City...but that shouldn't be too much of a hardship.

Yes, I´m sure you´re right. The minor problem is that I´m from Europe, so to me these "2$ off"-sales doesn´t mean much. In the end of the day I´ll usually order from DVDpacific (which always mark the lower value to the package - no custom issues) or from Deepdiscount (cheap prices and good sales). I usually make order like 60-100$ at the same time so few $ here and there doens´t really matter.
I hardly never ordered from e.g. Amazon (they always mark the correct value etc), but these HD sales have changed that.
But yes, this was just an idea, that´s all and probably mainly for the "HD oriented" people.

Re: New "HD Bargains and Deals" sub-forum?
DVDPacific is certainly a favorite--along with DeepDiscount--among HTFers (especially those outside the United States). And amazon is pretty popular, too.It seems to me there are threads in the Bargains section fairly often for all of these big mail-order houses (including some of the smaller outfits such as buy.com and j&r.com).
You'll just have to put up with rubbing shoulders with all those annoying deals on SD-media.
And there have certainly been a good number of HD deals the past few months! As someone noted in another thread, this format war may have turned out to be a blessing when it comes to hardware/software prices for the time being!

bargains forum is just fine as it is.
weekly roundup gets thousands of views each week for each new roundup.
btw, anyone can sticky any topic you want in the thread tools drop down menu.
