I have a Gateway laptop and an LG lcd hdtv. I want to hook my laptop up to my tv so I have a much bigger monitor. I think my laptop has an S Video connection on it, but I'm not really sure. Whats my best bet/option?

Re: How can I connect my Gateway laptop to my LG tv?
If your laptop has an S-Video out, you will actually be downgrading your signal quality, since the resolution of S-Video has fewer lines than VGA. If you really want the quality to be similar, you need a (fairly pricey) VGA to component/HDMI converter (assuming your laptop has a separate VGA output - many do these days). Don't simply use a VGA to component cable, as the video refresh rates rarely (if ever) match, depending on your laptop's video card settings. If both the laptop and LG TV have VGA connectors, that's the easiest way to go - get yourself a VGA monitor cable.
