Need help importing to iTunes

Thread Starter
I ripped my entire CD collection (about 1,000 discs) to my computer hard drive using Windows Media Player and I didn't use any compression (the files were all saved as .wav). I have a folder for each artist (such as "Beatles"), and subfolders for each album (such as "Rubber Soul", "Abbey Road", etc.).

The problem I am having is that I want to import the music into iTunes but whenever I try to import the folders, the songs are added to the iTunes library without any artist or album names. The tracks themselves are imported but are basically in one huge alphabetical list. iTunes seems not to recognize that my file structure is artist/album/song. Are there particular settings within iTunes that I need to change or do I need to do something with the files/folders themselves on the hard drive?

Thanks

Re: Need help importing to iTunes

The problem with WAVs is that they lack any ID3 tags. That said, there's probably some program or add-on out there that can process all the files based on the directory layout.
