I also wonder why this one hasn't made it to DVD yet. I'll hold on to my VHS for dear life in the meantime.

Better burn your VHS to DVD, Wes, as it's getting harder and harder to find that replacement VCR. My sis burned this to disc for me, and it will have to hold me until/if/when the real DVD of this is released.

Is this release: Blu-ray.com - The Uninvited Blu-ray of this "Uninvited" on BD a sign perhaps that the original & BEST version of the "Uninvited" from 1944 will get a DVD release?????

No, I think this movie is based on a Japanese movie and has nothing to do with the Milland film.
