I was a bit afraid there might be a postponement when the 85th Anniversary announcement listed Classic Musicals From The Dream Factory Volume 3 for the 3rd quarter of the year. But tell me it's not true! As far as I am concerned, this will be the set of the year whenever it comes!!!!

Re: WHV Press Release: Classic Musicals From The Dream Factory Volume 3

I just went to Amazon and looked at my pre-order of the box set and it is still there, with cover artwork and an April 8 street date.

Same thing here, but the links to the individual releases have vanished so I don't want the whole set to vanish too!!!

My pre order is still with dvdpacific.

The original release date didn't even click when I read the anniversary announcement for Warners.

Are you sure that these titles are being sold separately? If I remember correctly, the last box was only available as a set.

I know it happened with the Hepburn set - I still have Dragon Seed on indefinitely back order!

No because from the last set I only ordered Royal Wedding/The Belle of New York.

I really hope they do sell them separately. I really don't want pay more for movies I don't want like Deep in My Heart, Kismet, and Hit the Deck.

Is Warner really waiting till the 3rd quater to release the others? I am so confused!

I ordered the whole set but the original Warner press release said they would be sold separately:

"The films will be available as a collection for $69.92 SRP while single titles will sell for $19.97 SRP and the 2-disc double features Nancy Goes To Rio/Two Weeks With Love, Broadway Melody of 1936/Broadway Melody of 1938 and Born to Dance/Lady Be Good will each be available for $24.98 SRP."

If they don't sell them separately, but you decide to get the box anyway, I'll be interested in buying your copies of Kismet and Hit the Deck.

I already have both of them on pre-order, but if it turns out that they only sell the box, then I'll just be searching for them individually.

Re: WHV Press Release: Classic Musicals From The Dream Factory Volume 3

So I tried contacting Amazon and all I got was "We no longer sell these DVDs."

I'm losing my mind!

Re: WHV Press Release: Classic Musicals From The Dream Factory Volume 3

Got a copy of this set on Friday and so far I have watched Hit The Deck and Deep In My Heart. Hit The Deck ( looks to be 2:55 ) looked quite nice viewed on a 128" 2:35 screen so that was good! (Epson 1080 UB) All I can say is it was thoroughly enjoyable, but Deep In My Heart definitely had more appeal, at least to myself. Jose Ferrer was quite capable in his role and had me in stitches a few times. The guest appearances by Gene & Fred Kelly, Cyd Charisse, Ann Miller, Jane Powell and others simply added to the appeal of this film. Again the overall quality was very good - this one on a 1080 42" Toshiba lcd. Sound quality on both was clear and fairly dynamic, the 5.1 and 5.0 remixes respectively adding more ambiance and openness than anything else. The stage sets, as usual were very nicely done, wonderful to see. It amazes me what they did back then. Deep In My Heart filled the screen so the aspect ratio had to be something around 1:78 - 1:85. So far so good and hope to view some of the others during the week. Certainly although they may not be at the very top these films are still immensely entertaining and are a welcome addition.

Re: WHV Press Release: Classic Musicals From The Dream Factory Volume 3

As I read this thread, I was thrilled to notice how many fans of these musicals there are out there.........besides me, I mean.
I never thought these would make it to dvd, and I can't wait for my box to arrive.

Still longing for ROSE MARIE (1954), STUDENT PRINCE (1954),
GOODBYE MR CHIPS (1969),
LOVELY TO LOOK AT, DATE WITH JUDY, ATHENA,
and perhaps a second ESTHER WILLAMS go-round.

Still longing for DATE WITH JUDY

I bought the WHV DVD of "A DATE WITH JUDY" last Fall as part of some special program at DeepDiscount.

However, I read elsewhere that it is going to be available nationally on April 22nd.

(It's a great disc, by the way)

I am going to have an opportunity to preview some of this set at a friend's house this evening and I can't wait. The advance buzz is that each film has been given a fresh, new transfer, and they are all beautifully done.

This will only frustrate me until my Amazon shipment arrives next week! At their cost of less than $5.50 per movie (9 films, 6 discs), this has got to be one of the great DVD deals of all time.

...just "happy birthday" greetings to Jane Powell and Debbie Reynolds...both born on April 1st (although in different years).

Re: WHV Press Release: Classic Musicals From The Dream Factory Volume 3

Just a note to say I noticed while I was at a DVD store today, that the titles are being sold separately at this point.

Of course, I urge everyone to get the whole set, it's tremendous if you love musicals

I am in Montreal so I went to our biggest all-DVD store, Métro-Vidéo and saw individual disks of Deep in My Heart and Kismet among others. Thus I would certainly assume they are available in any major DVD store in the US too.

Re: WHV Press Release: Classic Musicals From The Dream Factory Volume 3

Any word yet if these movies will ever be released separately? Some sources claim they will be released separately but they don't know when.
